Hi.

Yes we have found out an issue with some (a significant percentage but fortunately not all) of the cars that left the production line. Obviously the problem was not there any earlier - not even in the preproduction cars sent to testers and press, so we were caught off guard, else we could have avoided it easily.

The problem is the cockpit tray. It is very long and it has a tendency to flex in the direction of the chassis, hence the whole cockpit assembly middle section sits lower than it should and creates an interference with the motor.

Luckily it can be easily fixed without a chainsaw. The middle section of the tray must be glued to the body while firmly pressing it upwards. Use hot glue or thick glue (cyan won't do).

See these pictures for an explanation.

With all the effort and time we've put in this car, the most difficult we made so far for many reasons, this is very disappointing for us and certainly for the customer as well. Being a kit made things worse because the cars are not assembled in production, so really this was not noticed earlier.

We are obviously going to fix it in the cars *after* the Totip version (which was already shipped when we spotted the trouble) and each customer asking for a replacement interior (whose only difference will be two 'lobes' with a hole which will be used to provide an extra glue point halfway between the front and the rear of the cockpit) will get one free of charge.

Also be aware that the holes of the screw mounting posts are a bit small. Please use the provided M2 screws to assemble the car rather that the traditional screws. There should be a warning sticker on the box about this.

I apologize for the trouble caused.

We MUST spread this information BEFORE the car is out so every customer

1 - knows exactly what he buys
2 - does not get (rightly so) angry
3 - does not use the chainsaw on an otherwise OK model

Maurizio

Well you see you have to admire Maurizio over his openess and honesty and his willingness to hit a problem head on before it all gets horrible and nasty.
A pretty amazing company and bloke.

But can you imagine other manufacturers doing the same ? Maurizio has maybe 1 or two issues a year across the board. Others have one or two issues on every car they make. You could make a whole forum dedicated to production issues with the other manufacturers (not wanting to single anyone out)

This is why i have no problem spending £35 on a slot.It car. Yet i yikes.gif at the idea of spending £28 on another make of car.

i've often wondered why an 'issue' with a slot it product is never really an issue, where with other manufacturers it is.

i have my answer. - thanks for the heads-up.

Chainsaw to a Ferrari......the Detroit solution.

I can only reinforce what the others have said. I never worry when I spend money on a Slot.it. If there is a problem in manufacture, Maurizio will not rest until it is corrected.

Hi Maurizio

I echo what everyone else has said - you have dealt with this problem quickly and pro-actively, rather than waiting for the complaints to roll in and then ignoring them: it is a breath of fresh air! biggrin.gif

I too am now an even bigger Slot-It fan - I have loads of your cars, but just opened the first two at the weekend - a white kit of the McClaren Le Mans car and an Alfa T33 - great stuff, quick out of the box and sure to get better when run in and tuned. And great value.... tongue.gif

Slot-It deserves to be a huge success - keep up the good work! thumbsup.gif

Cheers
Dave

In spite of Maurizio's metaphorical sense of humor which is always refreshing, this car is an awesome product. I got a chance to test drive one yesterday that was tuned up by someone not familiar with this forum and the handling and balance of this one car seems much better than previous others. Keep up the good work.

That humors me just bit, having received and assembled the F40 days before Maurizio's fix it document was out, and being from Detroit.
