Hi Guys,

Talking to Malcolm last night on the format, you will get a scorecard with the list of stages on,a pratice run will allowed, and then your timed run.

You can do the stages at your leisure, and also in the order you like,so if you are travelling a distance,no need worry about time or missing any stages,
everyone will get chance to complete all the stages.

Cheers Roy.

Phil, Malc & Co,

Really sorry I'm missing this, but the very best of luck for the grand opening and most importantly, hope you raise loads of cash for Acorns thumbsup.gif !

Best Wishes,

Hi Guy's
It will take us an hour or so to set up the stages in the morning and as Roy say's we will number each stage and competitors can do them in any order they like throughout the day so there is no rush.
If anyone has a stop watch we may need to borrow one for at least one of the stages.
Cheers
Phil.

pps anyone got a big welsh flag we can borrow? biggrin.gif

Just to thank Malcolm and Phil for a fun day at Wolves today for the official opening ceremony. Seeing some of the younger Wolves members with their families shows how this club is part of the local community and how they are encouraging new blood to the slot racing hobby. It was also nice to meet a spokesperson from Acorn to hear about how the fund raising money is being spent.

The rally stages were interesting and something I've never tried before, I was surprised how well an old Ninco Toyota Celica with its original NC1 and original 8 year old tyres went on some of the stages. A particular thanks to Dan for the trouble he went to bringing his two stages although his fiendish mixed surfaced one is one I would rather forget! But his Orleton Park stage was a particular favourite of mine.

I even managed a quick test of my SCCA car and my Halftonner on the Aldersley and International tracks when it was quiet early in the morning.

David

Well we are officially in our new home now !!
The whole club took on a rally theme as the official opening was to
be done by non other than Nicky Grist world class co-driver to the
late Colin McCae.
Those taking part had to complete runs on various rally stages on a
selection of tracks, these being the International and Aldersley
circuits plus true rally set ups, two of which where loaned by Dan Eversley
{I think i got the name correct} slap me if i did not, thanks Dan.
Times where then totaled to give a junior and senior winner.
these where Robbie Davis taking the senior and Sam Cookerton the
junior trophies.
The whole airfare was laid back, guys doing a stage, then taking a coffee
break, then back to the action, most genteel.
At 12.00 noon the man himself arrived.
Not knowing what to expect and having met some of these so called
superstars who tend to lord it over one and all.
well, a truer gentleman you will never meet, totally unassuming, laid back
making you feel at ease while you talked with him, amercing himself in
the whole event.
It was a privilege meeting him.

After a short address giving thanks to the club for there contribution to the
Accorn hospice, a plaque was unveiled.

Handing him a controller and car after the official bits where done, he had a
trundle around the circuit and commented on the fact there was more to this
kind of thing than at first met the eye and took great interest in the fact that
to get good time in other series, tyre compounds , Rev,s, torque and other factors
came into play.
A Big "thank you" was extended by the lady from Accorn, giving details on where and
how the money was used

All in all a very nice day, everyone said they where chuffed.
Phil will be along shortly with thanks to all concerned and a run down from
his viewpoint,
So thank for your support and to Dave Lawson and Joel Thura for making
the trip from down south,
Lastly piccies of the trophy winners,

All the details and full results will be posted on the club web site soonest.
To close, one last shot of the main man, a true gent.

Thanks everone.
Mac P

Just a quick post to add my thanks firstly to our Guest of Honour Nicky Grist for agreeing to give up his time to come and officially open the club, signing autographs and his patience when being posed for loads of slot related pictures by our friends from the Express & Star newspaper. He rally is a true gentleman as Mac has pointed out and he took a genuine interest in the club, Acorns and the "trickier than it looks" Slot car racing.
Thank you's also to Dan for the loan of the two fantastic stages and for manning one for us all day, to our sponsors and friends who donated prizes and raffle items, Slot Car Unique, Pendle Slot Racing/Get Slotted, A B Gee Limited, Steve and Mark from Slot Box, Joel and David, Mac, Pete, Bill, and my boss Les.
Thanks to Lee and his wife, and Fiona and her mom for doing sterling work with refreshments, raffle tickets and the bulk of the tidying up at the end of the day.
To Bodwyn from Acorns for taking time to tell us how the money goes to help support the terminally ill children and their families.
To Craig our webmaster for sorting out photo's and results on the Wolves website and arranging for the four Skoda Fabia's signed by Nicky to go on E-Bay (Get bidding I certainly will! - and it all goes to Acorns)
Thanks to Malcolm for putting up with my daft ideas and sorting out all the stuff I never think about and letting me fly with this one.
Finally thanks to everyone who joined in today from near and far, hope you all enjoyed it as much as I did.
(Before anyone asks, no I don't intend to make it an annual event!).
Cheers

Mac did you mention to Nikki that you`d rail raced at Nevill Hall Hospital Social club where he lives, he used to go there when our local Auto Club met there many years ago. Maybe he`d fancy having a go on our track on a thursday. (Still have the RR video on 8mm somewhere).

Looks like you all had a great day - Congratulations.
Cheers - Phil B. cat.gif

Hi Folks

Just to add my thanks to all the organisers in the club for the open day, I think it opened some eyes in the local area about what and how we do things.

It was good to speak to Nicky and here his gracious words,

It was also interesting to here about Acorns and what they do, it certainly made you think how lucky we all are in comparison.

Regards

Ian J

Hi,

It gives me pleasure to acknowledge the tremendous support given to our opening.
A total of £205 was raised in aid of the Acorns Childrens Hospice.
It brings the total raised to-date to £1000.
The genorosity shown,by visiting drivers and club members is truly appreciated.
We are in the process of collecting dis-used mobile phones and empty printer cartridges, for Acorns to recycle.
Please PM me if you can help.

Many thanks,

Malcolm.
