Well, there are good things about living in the US. One of them is that sometimes we get cars very fast even before Spain!!!
I have just ordered and it should arrive in 2 days!!! Yesterday, I completed my home made off road layout and tried some of my raid cars (still I do not that many that are assembled). Well I had a BLAST with my SCX Mitsubishi. At first, it was very disappointing as the Mitsubishi could not pass my rocky section. ![]() I started thinking that all the talk about how good the SCX cars are going over obstacles was only about the SCX obstacles (which I think are a bit artificial). Then I identified the problem as being the very hard braids that made the slot pop out. I read some time ago that a good mod is to replace the SCX guide by a Ninco one with spring and use a softer braid. So I did that, I replace the guide by the Pro-race Ninco guide with suspension and VOILA'!!! A fantastic car that had no trouble passing through the jumpy rocky section. I then became in love with the SCX raid cars. Immediately, I ordered last night two SCX Touaregs (one to use as a Touareg and the other just for the chassis). This morning while surfing through my addition, I found out that the SCX Hummer H3 had just arrived to some stores in the US!!!! I got one.... So far this thread is very self indulging |

slot-breizh, feel free to use all the pictures you want. You are right it does not look plastiky. Off corse some dirt on it would make it look even better.
Bleep, I know! That is why I had to take the stage. PSRRFH, I understand your aversion to Hummers (I also am not a fan) but I need all off road cars there are. This Hummer is actually not that big which is a bonus. Also, SCX off road cars are fantastic in off road tracks and there are only two other SCX models. In other words, it is a must have for any off road fan. Yes, the lights make it ... The next comments are based on a small test on my track. The reason the test was small is that I need to modify the guide to make the Hummer be able to go around my home made raid track. Two words about its behavior, I was surprised by how fast and responsive it was. I was expecting a slower car. I did not weight the car. It was faster than my SCX Mitsubishi but this might be for reasons that are not general. Both cars are new to me but the SCX car was probably in the shelf of the store for some time. A reason that might be general is that the braids of the Hummer are different, better and quite soft which is very different from the older Mitsubishi braids (This has a very positive impact on improving the ability to cross some obstacles). The Hummer is noticeable more top heavy than the Mitsubishi when you drive but nothing to worry about (if you want to "compete" just add weight to make it more stable). Another plus for the Hummer is that it was able to cross my rocky section when I flatned the braids, this is impressive because there is a lot of jumping on the section (The Mitsubishi simply could not do it with its non flexible braid). It had also no trouble on going up and down even when this climbs and descents are on curves. In less words, it will give you plenty of joy on off road tracks. When I run it more extensively, I will post again with more details. |

The drop arm is exactly the same as the SCX Mitsubishi arm. The only difference are the braids.
In my track another characteristic of the Hummer that has a special impact on its peformance is that the Hummer is at this point the longest of my raid cars.
