Now that Steve has started to build 'new' cars, even though mainly with retro motors and running gear, I have started a new thread in Scratch building which can be viewed here: Scratch building - Steve Walker Link

The most recent cars show on this thread got a run on a track for the first time at Timaru in Broadstairs yesterday.

For more information about Timaru - follow this Timaru Link

Here are all three cars together on the track.

The anglewinder F1 had lots of grip and really whizzed round, the recent rebalancing of the armature and the smooth running gears helping with that unique 'highly tuned' slot car whine.

The 'pinion in can' F1 was also swift, although inline gears (even if rebossed, straightened and hardened like these) will never be as smooth as angle winders.

The 'new' Lotus 38 was a little light at the front and tail happy but then it was never meant to be a 70's speed machine like the other two and B cans always were rather brutish motors, not well suited to a light car like this.

Thanks for the photos and the track test update, Stanley.
It's comforting to know that I've still got a long way to go.

Regards,
L.

Brilliant to see Steve starting to build 'new' cars.
Just need to get him racing them again
As yet there is no where to race the 1/32nd cars but Andy Brown is planning a 1/24th 'Tottenham Retro' and D3 Can-Am event in August and it would be great to see Steve come along and give his new F1 a propper workout. The only place I ever remember racing these was at Nordic Park in Southall, did Steve race there at the time?
Back in the day I raced regularly at Totenham and Wall Models, Mike even sponsored me for a while. I must have raced against Steve at that time.
Cheers.
Mick.

PS. Link below to CSCRA site where you can find the D3 and Tottenham Retro car regs.

Steve has now released a second chassis for sale on ebay.

This is the unusual and very early 1/32 sidewinder which started life as a 1/24 and was then converted by Steve for local 1/32 club racing when, as a young man, he left London and moved to Chatham.

It is the 'saloon' chassis mention in post #33 on page 3 of this thread.

This is the link to ebay.
