Timaru is one of the oldest slot racing clubs in the country, celebrating its fiftieth anniversay during 2009, now based in Broadstairs in Kent.
See: www.timaru.co.uk
Timaru has always catered for scratch builders, even from the earliest days when some members were employees at the then nearby Hornby Models factory. Today we run classes to the British Slot Car Racing Association rules (BSCRA) at both 1/32 and 1/24 scale, but with an emphasis on Falcon powered cars for not only Production but also F1 and 1/24 classes.
We meet on Thursday Evenings from approximately 7.30 p.m. onwards. Visitors welcome. Spare cars and controllers always available, so come and have a go!

Right ,a f1 after a meeting with the old timaru barriers, notice the bent not broken rear axle, this one was found in gladys bucket.![]() ![]() I will try to include some photos of some more strange and wierd race cars i have got off the web, so lets get the balsa wood ,string, and sticky back plastic out and go scratch building !!!!!!. Oh and make sure you have plenty of plasters to hand, and only work under adult supervision ?. |

Hi, well that looks pretty dire. Where did that come from? I have no pics but i brought a Fly Saleem of the web a couple of weeks ago that was brand new & i couldn't believe the condition it arrived in. Bits of it hanging off, spoiler in the completely wrong position (worse then what it sounds), the chassis didn't even fit into the body properly & bits of the interior loose. The good news, I fixed it. The dealer did offer an exchange but i didn't fancy having to send it all the way back to Spain. The other good news is i got the car quite cheap & at least i received it.
Oh well it's the chance you take with the web. There's nothing like seeing exactly what you are about to buy. I hope i won't have to post on here again but you never know. Best of luck & i hope you've managed to sort your car out. Rod. -------------------- |
