Interesting to see that Jim Russell's original 40+ years old
index finger/gun trigger controller design is still in business. thumbsup.gif
Only with yet another brand name molded in the plastics... tongue.gif

Only in USA would someone come up with a controller that look like a pistol... But as you say it works and works well. I wonder if anyone is paying him any royalties question.gif question.gif question.gif

It sure looks like a great controller, and clearly better build quality than the stock SSD controller, but I wonder... How does its feel/performance compare to a stock SSD that has had the spring replaced by a Parma spring, or the serva-lite one as in Stan's thread? The only other problem with the stock SSD controller was maintenance, since both PB Pro, the 4 car PB (I believe) and the new 6 car PB all have throttle calibration. What kind of maintenance is required of this controller, assuming the wiper arm is near-enough identical to other Pendle/MB-Slot/Parma type controllers?

I think it's awesome that there are more options, but 79 GBP is near enough 99 GBP, especially when you're talking about numbers that high in the first place, that the Slot.it is still a better choice (IMHO!) due to it's flexibility. After using mine for a long time, I REALLY like the flexibility provided by the controls on the Slot.it controller. Easily worth another 20 pounds over what appears to be a great quality controller, but otherwise providing no additional functionality. Sure the power supply thing for Slot.its can be a hassle, but it wouldn't take much to wire up a battery for it if it was really annoying.

Hopefully the price can/will come down on the Pendle controller at some point. I'm sure it's great and all, but is it really worth 80 GBP? $100+ USD?

Great review Tel, very well written.

Do you confidently feel this controler could shave time off your fastest lap time compared with your normal set up?

All the best mate thumbsup.gif

No, not the 4 car PB, and not the original 6 car PB. At the moment only PB-Pro does this. This was something developed here on SlotForum to overcome a problem. We don't know for sure what the new one will have until it sees the light of day (if ever!)

Ah. I knew the original 6 car didn't, but I thought the 4 car might since I never had an issue with cars humming (no zero) and my Slot.it controller's variable brakes actually worked better on the 4car when I tested it. The new 6car PB, according to the feature list on the web sites, will have "Hand throttles can be calibrated to equalize controller performance across for all drivers.." But of course, nothing is certain until it's on the shelf. smile.gif

As with anything, value is determined by the buyer. For my money, I'd want more than just better build quality at that price. While I don't have any plans to supply Slot.it controllers at all my driver's stations, I don't think I'll be picking any of these up, either. At least not unless the price comes down some.

Vive' la competicion! smile.gif
(probably ruined that ;-)

I think they just learnt and set the zero power position a couple of increments up the scale.

I agree on cost, as a club racer i don't mind spending out on a throttle. But digital is not really club so it means me spending out 6x £75 nearly £500. As the dragons would say.... I'm out.....

If you just replaced the spring in the SSD controllers and havent had any issues, I woud consider you very lucky ! Not only calibration, but for me the stock ones are very inconsistant , and being built to a price and as toys thats understandable.
In terms of control, this is far easier to be more precise with these than those stock things, and IMO the Slot Its have too much gadegetery that you dont need, on top of more leads for power.
The price isn't as keen as I had hoped it would be, but when you consider the R&D and initial outlay that goes into something like this, coupled to the niche market, then its not so bad, dont forget if your a SF member then you have a 10% discount wink.gif
Even compared to my Re-Pete controllers, these are far better IMO.

Interesting, says MB Slot on the case, so is it from Parma or did MB Slot mould their own. And the moulded cut out....
On a seperate note all my Parma casings have the Parma symbol.
