Superb, Jairus! Brilliant idea, superbly done.

By the way, if you ever get the time, there is a great book called Turbine Grand Prix by Gerard Crombac. It's all there... including the Howmet!

Hey Jairus,

As said before another fantastic creation clap.gif

Where being spoiled with your presence and goodies happy.gif

Just one question i had in a another thread also,
how do you do that with the axle brass tube and bearings etc, question.gif
are there tubes that will fit a bearing?
Would love to see how you make that front and rear,
also like to see how you do a similar thing with brackets.

Such an original and beautiful slotter, and that offset motor placement is fab. I wonder if there will be any discernable advantage when running on an oval?

Thanks guys, but Al... the car is pretty heavy. And.... actually balanced left and right and front to back. The offset motor was countered by placing the drive shaft to the right of the centerline and the bulk of chassis is also on the right (very asymmetrical). So this car is more balanced than one might think... however. Heading to the track this week to see for my self just how it works. Going to give the chassis a test and make sure it doesn't grind a gear or burn up the arm.
On the bench it takes at least 2 volts to get everything spinning. All that monkey motion really adds up, I just hope the Havlicek motor is up to the task! Reports soon. smile.gif

Jaak, Yes of course there is a brass tube for everything my friend! tongue.gif

Right you are Jairus. I should have thought of that. rolleyes.gif

Nice build Jairus!

I have dealt with the guy at Indycals and he is first class. He was always willing to do decals in ANY scale I needed but, this was a few years back when I was dabbling in HO. I would think/hope he is still customer friendly.

Sano man, Sano!

Mike, the Indy-cals product is WONDERFUL! But I am getting ahead of myself.

Went to the track today to put a few laps on the Turbine car chassis.
But the track was closed.... Note on the door said closed all during January (So much for the NASCAR race on the 17th) and yet the recording mentions nothing about being closed, just gives out normal winter open hours. Bummer....

But when I got home the decals were in the mail box so... provided I can keep my nose to the grindstone here, I might be able to finish this project tonight!

Love those decals! wub.gif
They snuggle down nicely, are thin enough to conform and not too thin that they break apart easy.
Did I say I LOVE THOSE DECALS?

Now we're getting there, it's going to look great, you can seal those decals with Tamiya clear, there will be no adverse reaction.

Did ya check Michael Portaro's (Mr Indycals) full line of decals? He's a very accomplished modeler, many of his cars are in the Indy Museum, you can also keep abreast of his efforts, and quite a few talented static indy car modelers at this link: Open Wheel Racing

Jairus...incredible chassis too, you'll set the standard.

Chris

Wonderful car, wonderful livery - fantastic Jairus! I would have liked to know it worked on the track - your story about your abortive test session (that's a three-hour round trip?) makes me realise how lucky we can be, only ten miles from the club...
