Firstly - don’t forget that you can run our club cars for free all year round.
However, you might want to get your own car so you can get to know it and learn how to keep it tuned up and running well. You’ll probably get better results in the races. In this thread we'll be posting tips, reviews and links to cars that can be used competitively at WHO Racing events. On the questionnaire we sent out, I suggested that you can run your own cars in both classes for as little as £11. This would mean buying a Tyco 440X2 F1 chassis, a set of silicone tyres plus an F1 body and a closed wheel body that fits the F1 chassis (Corvette, Lamborghini or Ferrari F40). There are two ways of doing this for £11: ![]() Option 1. We can buy a lightly used Corvette Tyco 440X2 for £5 from Tony's HO Racing Ahead shop at the next EAHORC national event (It’s £6 on Tony's HORA website). Add a pair of .434 silicone tyres for £1.50. We can source new F1 / Indycar bodies for £4.50 each. Total= £11. ![]() Option 2. Buy a used McLaren F1 or Ferrari F1 Tyco 440X2 from Tony at HORA for £8. Add a pair of .434 silicone tyres for £1.50 and a Corvette body for £1.50. Total= £11 (plus P&P if you buy direct from Tony). We would recommend painting up your car bodies – the Corvette bodies come in dayglo colours and the IndyCar bodies are all the same livery – black (not great to see on a black track!). The Tyco is currently the best option for the F1 class. It has brilliant road-holding and decent pace. However, it is just not on the same pace as the Tomy cars that we will race in the modified class – although it could be up there if driven with skill and intelligence. I'm going to run a Tyco in modified and see what happens... Andy -------------------- |
