Chaps of the G-Slot,
So, Big-G is up and running (kind of) each Thursday now without too much opposition from anyone....looks like we can carry on if the willing is there. As much as I want to race on it, I found myself this week not really interested because there's nothing to race for. Just running around with my Slot It didn't seem appealing, it would have just wrecked my nice smooth F15's What can we do to get this going??? It needs a focus (and I'm not talking Ford)...whether that be a quick couple of races before the little-g races start or we have a Big-G night once a month, I think we need to get something going, or it'll just carry on without anything really getting sorted. We already know Ian has stayed because of the big track opening, Cookie has returned on the talk of big track action. As most of us have Slot It cars for the challenge, surely we should utilise those and everyone else could easily put one together with a little effort. I noticed Pinewood run a Slot It challenge of their own, using the challenge rules, but just allowing ultragrips....we could do that??? Open for discussion this one...what do we all think? -------------------- |

Yeah,
we are usually there for 6 o'clock ish, and Steve doesn't turn up till getting on for 8, so that gives some time for racing. We don't have anyone who understands the race control though !!??. Perhaps ask Mo or Steve next week to explain how it works !!. vbr Chris. ps: SIC cars with NSR sounds good, or even SIC as it is . |

I would leave it as is then no reason to change tyres for sic events for those involved and also keep level playing field
after all slot.it p6 seem to grip very well after treatment -------------------- ![]() ![]() |

We don't have anyone who understands the race control though !!??. Perhaps ask Mo or Steve next week to explain how it works !!. Would it be worth investing in another slotMaster kit?...£130 isn't much split between members and would be a good investment if we ever got to the scary heights of 'event staging'!!! I like the idea of keeping it Slot It Challenge rules, whether we allow NSR's or not, fine either way for me...and Dave's idea of the 14th week race to start with would work v well. People would know not to turn up if they weren't interested -------------------- |

I would suggest we run 2 classes, everyone gets 2 races. One race on a gutter lane, one race on a inner lane, the following week its swapped over. Then it won't take too long and we can be done in the hour and the unamables won't even know about it and if they do and want to race then they get there earlier - end of.
Why don't we just keep it simpler and just run sports - a well set up SIC is just as quick as any other GT out there and then it opens it up the ones who haven't got the money to go and buy a seperate Slot It car, thinking of the younger members?? Around both swaton and Norwich (and i think llrantrisant) the Slot it car is on par with a mosler (was lap record holder at both swaton and NSR and didn't a SIC win the Welsh Sports car race last year??) , just gives everyone more options. Second class - well my vote would be either Puntos/Clios (pretty standard or modified) or PCS Touring cars - Like what pendle run - looks a fun and easy class ( http://www.pendleslotracingclub.co.uk/html...ouring_cars.htm ). Gives us a chance to have a play and do something on the cheap, all the same starting point and motor and let the imaginating run free. Plus may aswell look at established classes - no point being pioneers when others have a class that works!! Just my 2p's worth -------------------- The Battenburg Kid

Hi All
At Pinewood there has always been a Slot.it Challenge Class. I keeps the hand in all year. This year is a normal class running to two minutes. Sounds a good idea. Personally I can't see the need for multiple classes but the chances of me ever making 6pm are slim Although Cookie is right SIC cars are just as quick as other modified Sports GT. Careful you don't have too much fun |

SlotMaster website says 'New USB version available from £130 including track interface'...judging by the reaction Chris there's more to it than that

I'd go with the Slot.it everyday, I need the practice it's all about getting to know the cars they are so different to what we race normally
Lee I can't remember exactly but I think it was a "LOT" more than that.... -------------------- Ian B

Sounds good guys...you lot know A LOT more than me about the slotMaster stuff...so we'll go with the current timing system.
Action plan then if everyone agrees, obviously we'll have to put this to Moe, Steve and the non-interneters on Thursday to see if they are interested.... Possible formats; - Big-G races to start at 6.30pm (pre little-g championship races) every Thursday night. Maybe run 13 week championship along side Little-g - Normal Sports Class cars or Slot.It Challenge spec cars to keep it open to everyone and cheap as possible for now - 3 minute races - One points league table Also, - After championship has finished (week 14) we will run a 'Big-G Sports/GT Challenge' one night only event - Normal Sports Class cars or Slot.It Challenge spec cars to keep it open to everyone and cheap as possible for now - Depending on numbers we could run heats then step up finals - 3 minute heats, 3 minute finals - Finishing place from this round determinds start position for the next round Simple enough to get us started. Once the format is agreed I'll put together the scorings sheet that can be used and run 'live' on the night for the after championship one night event. Do your worst then and add/ revise the format as you see fit -------------------- |

Ey Up,
Paul, please !!. OK, continue as you like. There are serious issues at stake here, of which I am sure you are aware. This is very important in the continuity or not of the Gainsbro club !!??. We need to pull together on this. VBR Chris. ps: really hate to mention this, but did anybody else notice Moe's appearance ??. Quite concerned !!. |
