Hi Chris,

I'm just being nosey seeing what's happening at your club. Re:re-braiding your track I used these guys for both braid and double sided tape when I did my home track. I thought it was reasonably priced and went down really easily. You'll see the result when you come down for the Wellinbugger September meeting.

Cheers

John

PS when's your retro meeting? biggrin.gif

Hey Scotty - is that you??!!

The little track has a few issues but nothing an hour or two wouldn't sort out I think.

Big G however needs a complete re-tape in my opinion with more expansion joints adding to help with the buckling under temperature.

Sorry Paul

I think by Retro - is meant brass chassis'd scratchbuilt type things - Penelope Pitstop etc.

You know what I'm pointing at Jim....everyone wants to do the big g thing...and hey the SlotIt event was a huge success, so there's no reason why the other events (1/24th, retro, etc) wouldn't be.....we have the personnel and the resources, we just need to know where the funds are coming from!

Now there lies the issue!!!! and it baffles me why the funds are kept so secret. I've kept quiet because I know Chris has been working hard in the background to gain more control...and for me he should be running the joint if he's willing (?)...so I didn't want to upset anything Chris had started.

The tuck shop pays for itself...so seems logical the members subs should be able to provide some upkeep funds...even if we have to save over a number of weeks.

Anyone fancy an AGM meeting on Thursday????? smile.gif question.gif

Welcome to SF Scotty....sure you'll enjoy the fun of the forum!!!

There's plenty of idea's at the moment on how we use big-G...every week before little-g racing, one off events, once a month...that will all come. First we need to make it useable...and first is re-taping, then the WORLD!!!! wooohahahaha ph34r.gif

Once we have it taped I'm sure it'll get used more and more....plus we can add lap timings etc to make it even better for practice etc.

Watch this space....

Ey Up Scotty,

just to answer your question, with the magnetic suspension I install plastic or neoprene tube to act as limiters and bump-stops. You still have the suspension but much reduced movement. Same with springs, tho the tube has to be small diameter to fit inside the springs.

Hi Paul,

I dont see a prob with CSCRA rules. Most of my retros are to that spec, only changing when some clubs run different ground clearances.

Hi Lee,

softly softly catchee monkey !!. Also, I can't wait to see a "low cost" dependable lap counting & timing system.

Hi Jim,

"Proper " scratchbuilt requires building ones own chassis from scratch !!. But a some peeps do use the PP chassis kits as they are easy to put together.

Ey Up John (vfr750),

Hello old friend, looking forward to Sept Wellinbugger, any chance of previous arrangement inc curry ??. As for "G" retro you can see we are on it !!.

vbr Chris A.

Just another option for the timing -

SlotRace Manager

Only needs simple wiring and free software.

We have the detection already in the track so would jut need these signals sending to a parallel port.
