Presumably, the connections for Rich's Lap Tower are exactly as before??

You plug the old aux cable into the "Program" jack on the Lap Display splitter, I believe.

Correct. You end up with a lot of cable though.

Guys,

I've had a bit of a problem with loading the latest version, but I got there in the end, on both my machines!! I do not normally have a problem - honest!!

When in the previous version, I checked for updates it didn't find any, even though there was the latest version on the site.

So I downloaded it direct from the site and installed it. However, when checking it didn't show up the new option for RichG's tower.

So, I ended up un-installing SSDC completely and loaded the latest version from scratch.

This seems to have worked, but I am not sure whether the update Andy sent me last to resolve my wireless throttle glitch was the final bit which made it work or not. I loaded this after loading the latest version from the site.

Just thought you'd like to know, just in case it happens to you.

By the way, the first impression of the new software in resolving my glitch is that it seems to have done the trick, but will be testing it further today.

Cheers

Problems updating to SSDC v5.4.2.0

I run today SSDC v5.4.1.0 and have usually used the "update" under SSDC, but it says that I am already running the latest version. Have tried to download the full version and installed it and it says that I still run SSDC v5.4.1.0. Have tried to uninstall SSDC v5.4.1.0 and made a whole new installation of SSDC v.5.4.2.0 with the same result.

Please help

Cheers
Tim

OK Steve & Tim - that is my mistake - I didn't update one part of the site on Friday. I will fix it very shortly.

A couple of (hopefully minor) feature requests. Of course, these should both be optional.

1) Activate hard braking for all cars when a track call is activated. We've been racing with a limited number of crashes, and all offs of any kind count as a crash, no matter the cause. Unfortunately, when a track call is activated (with the old power base), car control is cut when drivers are not ready, and they are often heading full speed down a straight. When track calls happen then, their car has no brakes and comes off in the next turn, resulting in them losing one of their allowed crashes for the race. If SSDC could hit the brakes for all cars, this would happen much less. I realize this is probably an APB only feature, but it's something that we would like to have when we do move from our PB-Pros to the APB. If it already exists, I will be happy to hear it. smile.gif

2) Immediately end race when leader has finished the last lap. Since we race with limited crashes, it's not uncommon for racers to be kicked out of the race from crashing too much. The problem is that SSDC will not stop counting or stop the cars until ALL cars have crossed the line after the leader (or completed all their laps). If we don't notice the leader has gotten his last lap, and keep racing, we end up with all the remaining racers getting all the laps of the race. We'd like the race to optionally end as soon as the leader crosses the line and to cut power/control. Another option is to stop counting laps for ALL racers once the leader has crossed at the end of the race. That way, even if we keep driving around a little longer, the remaining cars won't be getting up to 20 if they are a lap or more down.

I'll add these to the SSDC feedback area, I just wanted to post them here for feedback.

Hi Mr F

I'm sure you can change the race end in the options tab of SSDC. So you can have all cars stop/half power/normal power when leader passes over the line. I'm sure if you have this setting it will stop counting laps for the other cars too, once the leader has finished.

I'll try it again with the latest version, but I thought it let all cars continue counting laps until all cars have crossed the line. Crashed cars not crossing the line mean active cars rack up all their laps.

Hi Mr F

Just checked to see if it does do what you want, it does biggrin.gif
V.5.4.1.0 not put the latest version on yet. Go to Tool > Options > then you can change whether the lead car ends the race and whether you stay on full power at end of race. Fuel is still used but once the leadcar has finished, the laps are no longer counted by any of the cars biggrin.gif

ok, that's good. Is it possible to cut car control or power after the leader crosses? We need the cars to stop changing position, in case there is a tie in laps, which is quite common for our races.

ZITAT
I am looking at a way where you can setup a default race configuration which is used when a race isn't selected.

Ah, yes, please!

Just doing some simple warm-ups mean to scroll down the list, searching a proper race, duplicate it, start it ...
Even when we simply only want to test some cars and want to be able to compare lap times.
And even doing a race is a bit of fizzling around.

So, some wishes:

It shoudn't be neccessary to open the "[+]track" and "[+]event" - they simply should show everything like it was when you left SSDC.

Then, I would like to have the opposite list order of races, showing the last at top of the list." order of the races, oldest should go to the END of the list, not being first.

Also, for statistics and whatever, old races might be stored away, somewhere, without having to delete them, but without disturbing the list of the most recent races.
Maybe simply via context menu ("save in list of old races"), making a "[+] old races".

There could be defaults for new race set-ups, so that you don't have to find a proper old one to duplicate it. F.e. via context menu. Find a race with nice settings, context menu -> "make this race a standard race" -> little dialog for naming it -> in the future, that named race can be chosen from a list for a quicker start.

As ever: We really love SSDC - that ideas are no criticism in negative meanings.

Yep, on the same option screen as before 'at race end' select no power and all cars will stop as lead car finishes the race.

I take it you have F1 style races (number of laps) have you tried endurace (set amount of time) type?
This would pretty much do what you want anyway. You get points for every lap completed. So people removed from race would only get points for the laps they had completed.
