For the 2012 UK Slot Car Festival we are planning some great new additions.
One is that all visitors will receive a free 32 page full colour souvenir programme, produced exclusively for the Slot Festival in association with Slot Car Mag.
We would like to offer all clubs a free inclusion in both our club directory on the Slot Festival website and the programme.
We are NOT simply going to reproduce the directory found on the forum or on slotcarmap.
What we need is for Clubs to actively take part in supporting the event, so please take the time to include your clubs information on this thread.
We need:
Name of Club
Address Details of Club
Contact for Club, Phone, email etc
Type of track & classes raced
Web Address & any other relevant info
Please note we will only publish details of clubs posted on this thread.
So if you would like some free publicity for your club to reach thousands of visitors to the UK Slot Festival event and website post now.
Sean

4 Lane 'Ninco' Club Track with DS Lap Counter/timer.
We race every Wednesday evening starting from 8pm.
First visit is free.
We run a wide variety of cars 95% of which are box stock RTR cars (Ninco, SCX, Scalextric, Carrera, NSR, Avant, etc). We alternate between 'Club Cars' and 'Own cars' each Wednesday. On 'Club Car' nights all the cars are supplied and are lane cars. On 'Own car' nights you race your own cars, but the club also has spares in case you don't have any. We run 8 classes each night with four races in each class. There is a Bar downstairs!

We'll be there biggrin.gif

Gainsborough & Lincoln Slotcar Club,
5a Bradleys Walk,
Gainsborough,
Nth Lincolnshire,
DN21 2LW

http://g-slot.club.officelive.com/default.aspx

We have two wooden Tracks Big G

which is currently undergoing a massive face lift - Big-G is a fast and flowing track which was used for BSCRA racing. Which will soon be hosting special events once all the work is completed a great deal of effort is going into bringing this track back to it's former glory...

GENERAL INFO:

4 lane track with the standard Red,Yellow, Green, Blue lane marking. Long gearing is needed to maximise the huge straight sections, the longest of which is an impressive 30' long on this 110 foot track. The long sweeping curves make this track a joy to drive. The track surface on Big-G is a silky smooth gloss finish, totally different to Little-g.

And Little G

Little-g is a fast and twisty circuit. From the start line, you are straight into the technical right/ left/ right/ left esses section. The last of these left turns, is a tight 130 degree bend, leading into a short incline, with a tricky 90 degree left hander at the brow. If you managed to stay in the slot around this last left hander, you are now in the critical area of the track. The 180 degree hairpin is the start of the acceleration zone, leading to another tight right, before opening out into a medium straight, long sweeping right, where carrying the corner speed is all important and eventually leading into the long 20' straight section where you can nail the throttle. As you get to the end of the main straight, you will be braking hard over the bridge section before taking the tight left hander, down the hill into the leaning 180 degree hairpin. A short squirt under the bridge will leave you unsighted for a brief moment, as you try to gauge the braking spot for the last right hander. A quick squeeze of the throttle will see you completing the lap.

GENERAL INFO:

This is the track that is used on a Thursday evening. The racing on this track is with Scalextric type 1/32 scale Hard Bodied RTR cars.

The track surface has an abrasive Sandtex finish. Soft tyres are needed here, to get any sort of performance out of the cars. No goop is allowed on the track, but it is permitted to rub NSR tyre oil into your tyres before arriving, and then clean off with lighter fluid before racing. The power to the copper tape is from a single car battery, hooked up to a charger. This offers a very smooth and consistent flow of power, being able to provide far more Amps than 4 drivers will ever need.

The 4 lanes are colour coded:

Blue
Green
Yellow
Red

Each car that races has a coloured piece of tape placed on it's bonnet or windscreen, corresponding to the lane that the car is running in. This makes marshalling the cars after a de-slot, a much easier affair.

LAP TIMING:

Lap timing is a feature in the Little-g room. Lap times of around 6 seconds are average, with the better drivers getting down into the low 5's. Drivers personal best times for each category are recorded, so you'll always have a target to beat. This much needed lap timing/counting system was bought and installed by club member Chris Adams. (Thanx Chris). The Championship is run every Thursday over 13 weeks, with the drivers 8 best scores counting to the end of season table. The driver with the most laps and bits wins....simples! The software/hardware that Chris so generously purchased, is the excellent SlotMaster package.

MARSHALLS:

All non racing members will marshall...by order of t'management!!!Little-g needs 5 marshalls to be covered properly, but it can get away with just 4, if need be.

Opening Times: Thursday – Scalex 1900hrs. Though we tend to get there slightly earlier

We race Scalex type 1:32 slotcars at the moment that consists of:

4x4 - Any 4x4 Slotcar. (Current favourite is the Ninco Peugeot 307’s)
Saloon Car – Any Saloon car (Current favourite is probably the Spirit Peugeot 406’s)
F1 – Any F1 car (Current favourites are the Ninco F1’s)
Sports car – Any Sports car (Current favourites are NSR Moslers)

The format is simple three minutes warm up followed by three minutes Racing. While not racing you are expected to marshal. Each racer gets to drive each class, rotating through the lanes race by race.

New members are always welcome to join us there will always be loan cars available for you to try while you get a feel for the track. We always welcome new members to come along young or old.

First Night is free, there after it is a very reasonable Race night-Adult £2.00, Child £1.00 (Under 16s). But most of all its a Great Atmosphere.

Contact us @ http://g-slot.club.officelive.com/FindUs.aspx or via http://www.slotforum.com/forums/index.php?showforum=118 where the majority of the members are active.

I'd just like to echo Seans encouragement to get your club listed.

I'm really looking forward to doing the programme as much as actually attending the show.
