Hi,

Found this in a big lot on ebay last year, and am just now getting around to posting it. I was pretty sure it was a Shinoda, but it was in worse shape than I thought from the very vague photo.... It was not specifically with a chassis, but of the couple in the lot, this jaildoor seems to match the body best.

What do you all think? Shinoda or Shinnada?

Don

Hi Don,

I think it is a Shinoda, the colour and damage might account for the doubt.

Nice chassis, eh !!??.

Potato, Potahto, let's call the whole thing off...... Sorry.. biggrin.gif

Looks in bad order, will you try to restore or is it beyond repair?
As a slot car numpty I don't know the significance of "Shinoda", could someone briefly explain, thanks.

EDIT - some explaination here....LINK Looks like the "Lamprey" to me?

Here is a picture of my Shinoda Lamprey ! Don"s Shinoda body definately has a different front end .
I think chapman may have nailed it - a take on the Corvette . So , which came first, the Corvette
design or the Lamprey ? Both are great ! Zig

question.gif

Don's Lamprey looks like it was done off the Strike body style ? Humm...

And Zig's looks corvette-ish ? Humm...

I might just retro a Strike into the lamprey and call it a: " Raycati " biggrin.gif

Since Larry Shinoda used to work for GM about the time the Mako Shark show car was being developed... I would say the Corvette and the Lampray were designed about the same time. cool.gif

Yep, the Shinoda bodies really had style! And Class, and Bazazz! (sorry, musical comedy reference from "Funny Face"...).

Still not sure what I'm going to do with this one... Vac-form bodies are basically impossible to restore in this shape, but I'd kind of hate to put a repro body on it. Maybe just shine it up and leave it like this as a "Cutaway" view...
