Looks good at first glance, the different indicators I could live with but swapping from left hand to right hand drive is a bit cheeky.
I'm not a rivet counter, I know these are scale models (toys) and not exact replicas, I know all about tooling costs, etc.. but the position of the driver in a car is fairly important and wouldn't be too difficult to get right. Or is one of the two photo's above wrong? |

Oh look its LHD
Yup they did it again, this pic clearly shows it is LHD, not surprising as it was a US entered car... the flyscreen on the bonnet (hood) is a bit of a give away So lessons not learned from the Escort MK1s.......... -------------------- 'It was not me, it was broke when I got there...... Rumour has it this one comes with a slower motor than former releases.
Around 15k at 12 volts... Any truth to this rumour? (I'm hoping it's true) |

Don`t care if they`ve got the driver on the wrong side. I still like it & will definitely get one .

I like it a lot and would probably have bought one, had it not been pointed out that the driver is on the wrong side. Now I'm aware of the error, it would constantly irritate me and spoil my enjoyment of the car, so I'll save my money.
It's because of threads like this that I like this forum. Manufacturers try to sell us stuff on which they've cut corners (Scalextric is especially bad in this regard). Someone somewhere will spot the flaw and point it out for the benefit of us all. It's not nit-picking or rivet counting, it's demanding quality and value for money. Enlightened manufacturers listen and take note and keep my custom. Others don't. Thank you DJ and Tifosi for providing the information. -------------------- Photos of some of my collection:

Is that really what the car is going to look like? It looks like a terrible reproduction of the real thing and nothing like the lovely lines of the first Scalex model release last year. It looks like the photo has had it length shortened and its height lifted. Not the best of marketing pictures

Agreed that it's a poor reproduction of the real thing (because of the driver position), but I can't see where its lines look any different from the first one. ![]()

Might just be the lack of bumpers gives the car a dumpier appearance?

It doesn't look a bad representation to me, I can live with the lack of fly screen and the driver on the wrong side, it's still about a thousand times more realistic looking than the slot cars of my youth. In conclusion ,I'll definitely be getting one...maybe two. Regards Jason

Hang on a bit Kev, Jason is bitching those ancient cars that you love so much....
I don't think the MGB is a bad model, I think it looks great actually, just wish Scaley would take a bit more care with getting the basics right. |

Hang on a bit DJ, For the most part, those lovely cars of Kev's were built before I was born, not in my youth, your putting years on me.
You are correct in what you say, it would be easy for Scalextric to get those couple of things right, but which manufacturer gets everything right? We'll always find something to criticize if we look hard enough, I don't have a car that I couldn't find some fault with. All the best Jason |

Sorry Jason, just looked at your date of birth, believe it or not there's just over a month between us, in my book that makes you a youngster...
Back to our youth, the late 70's, early 80's, OK you've got a point.. You're right though, only happy whan we're moaning or picking fault. None of these faults(errors) really mean much in the scheme of things, sometimes I just can't help myself though. We perhaps should just be happy that the slot companies keep churning out new offerings to tempt us out of the holiday money. ATB Dave |
