So begins the start of my Quantum Of Solace/James Bond themed layout. I only have a 10 x 3.5 table to work with, so it will be a narrow layout. To keep my wife happy I decided to paint the walls a color she liked. I had ordered a couple of James Bond posters to tie in with the themed layout which will look over the track so I did not mind the paint job. I've got some more track on order which should arrive Wednesday in work (so she won't see it) so I can add some twists and turns, but for now it's just an oval. I'll add some scenery in the limited space once I have my track how I want it. Anyway below are some pics since I started.

White wall with an area cleared for a table.

Wall painted blue with the table in place.

QOS set ready to open.

James Bond posters framed and hung above green painted table.

The posters up close. The first 22 movies in mini poster side and the Skyfall movie poster.

Oval track set up for testing.

Big Bond fan here... what do you plan to have as the theme... The Alps from Goldfinger? Industrial complex from same movie?, road tunnel from quantum? City scene from Diamonds are forever? Hmm lots to choose from.

I thought of adding this, also might make a volcano from You Only Live Twice to drive around......lots to choose from.

This will be fun to see. When I saw your layout, I also immediately thought of a You Only Live Twice scene. Because your layout is oval shaped, it reminded me of the scene where Aki picks up 007 as he is fleeing the Osato Company headquarters. She comes tearing around the bend in front of the building in her white Toyota 2000GT roadster and picks up Bond. They are then chased by the bad guys in a black sedan.

You could have Osato Chemicals at one end of your layout and the volcano at the other end, with a Little Nellie flying overhead.

I think you've inspired me to make a 007 layout myself cool.gif

There's so much to choose from in 007, I'll definately be using ideas from YOLT and QOS, also thinking of the ice/snow from DAD. First things first though I have to get the track layout finished.

I finally received my last r1 and r2 track pieces in the mail I had been waiting for. So now my son and I will be able to race while I work on some scenery. I'm quite impressed with the layout I've managed to fit into a 10 x 3.5 area. For now the 007 Raceway is up and running.

Here's some pics to enjoy.

From the start we will drive around Blofelds volcano which will then lead into a Quantum of Solace style tunnel which will be the only fast straight on the layout.

On the right I may build another montain top/tunnel scene.

Just be sure to make the mountain on the right removable, or otherwise provide access to the track under that overpass. With a hard left R1 at the end of the straight, that will probably be the MOST common deslot place along side the lane changers. Definitely race on this track a while before you put too much time into scenery. It would suck to go gung ho on a mountain there only to get tired of fishing cars out and decide to change the layout.

That is very good advice MrFlippant, I'll be sure to race the track to make sure I'm happy. I've already noticed that the hard left will be the biggest challenge to slow on while taking it.

I decided to modify the right side of the track as the tight R1 turn was causing too many de slots. This modified end now keeps the cars on the track more, but still means slowing fown too. Plus I did it without having to buy any extra track. (which will keep the wife happy!)

Here's an update of my work on my 007 Layout. I finally got the 6 car PB this weekend and have been getting to grips with that. Now I'll be saving for some more cars......(I really like the 3 Italian Job minis). My scenery making skills are not up to the standards of most here, but I quite like what I've done. I've got some Bond cars for scenery on order so eventually they will show up on there when the wife is not looking!).

My mountain from OHMSS. I still have to build a small Piz Gloria (Blofeld's Base) to go on top of the mountain. Leading into my QOS tunnel.

Exiting my QOS tunnel.

Then under my YOLT volcano which I did not build as big as I liked for fear of reaching in for desloted cars.
