The Scalextric car:
Michael Schumacher in any car is a MUST HAVE for all F1 fans. This electric model racing car will deliver the fast dare-devil moves associated with the German World Champion. The super-fast FF motor is ballistic and the car is fitted with the DPR plug so that you can race on Scalextric Digital and emulate those famous ‘chops’ that Schumacher is famous for.

Apart from that, what's with the yellow tint on many of the recent Scalextric photos? That hard to do levels in Photoshop?

Why doesn't Scalextric just design the F1 cars in a manner that they can pop on an updated nose/front wing, air box and engine cover on the chassis (like F1 teams add updates to their cars throughout a season), if they don't want have to produce a whole new car? In the very least, make an updated nose. They could just sell it as an update package for people who want a newer version.

I mean it is just a toy car, and nothing to lose sleep over, but at least make a little bit of an effort.

Hi all just a quick question not being a big Scalextric runner is this car designed on a similar platform to the limited edition Senna McLaren?

Ray,

It will basically has the same engine. The chassis is different, it will be narrower than the McLaren, reflective of the times. Performance will be similar. This is the same car as the 2010 version, just re-sprayed with 2012 livery. Oh, and I would expect that this version has Scalextric's newer compound tires that are a bit stickier on a clean track (which mine is not).

Thank you Rakete, we normall run NINCO or SCX F1's but the NINCO's are are hard to get spare parts for now, there are a couple of the Senna cars running at our club and they are quicker than a well setup SCX and all but the best NINCO's. We run Slot.it gears and NSR tyres and rims in our classes.

The only issue with the Scalextric Senna car as I understand it is replacement chassis according to one of our guys.

Do you know what the difference oin width is?

Ray - Sorry for the delay in response, was on the road and did not have the chance to measure them. But here's what my old eyes observed. Width measured outside edge of the tires to outside edge of the tires.

Front
Senna McLaren 67.5mm
Mercedes GP 54.5mm

Rear
Senna McLaren 68.5mm
Mercedes GP 57mm

Wheelbase measured axle to axle or ceter of front tire to center of the rear tire:
Senna McLaren 9.5cm
Mercedes GP 10cm

Mike - excellent point. They did this with the 2004/5 Williams. The original version had the walrus tusk nose and the 2005 version for which the body style was pretty much the same had a traditional nose. I can see why they didn't because the stepped noses of today's cars are UGLY and frankly may drive the casual user away, but would have been nice for us die hards to have the option.

Thanks Rakete , sorry for the late reply I have not looked at this one for a while.

Do you think that Scaley will release another F11 from this era with similar front and rear track dimensions?

We are running F1's over the next two weeks and have just bult a NINCO Sauber with an NSR 21k Evo 3 motor in it and building up another Senna SCX McLaren F1 to test. My NINCO is running 7.2 second laps where as others with the Scaley Senna is runing 6.000 flat - 7.1 second laps although one of these has damaged their chassis and it is not running so wel now. Is that correct you can not get replacement chassis for the Scaley F1's [ the NINCO's are liker hens teeth now as well].

The only other cars I've seen from Scaley of that era (I assume you are speaking of the Senna car) were resprays of the McLaren and the Williams with a Senna #1 car and an Alan Prost Williams.

Hi Rakete yes I was talking about the Senna car. Soooo the McLaren and Williams are similar and would have the same chassis layout (or similar), dimensions and perfomance?
