I currently have scalextric sport 1:32 and have been offered an SCX 1:32 f1 racing set, the track wont fit as its old style but will the cars work on my scalextric set?

from what I can make out SCX and Scalextric are the same company/item?

am I right or wrong?

I see that you have just discovered that there two Scalextric brands ...... biggrin.gif

It's a long and complicated story but essentially the outcome is that the people who use the Scalextric brand in Spain and the USA, and probably other places, are really SCX owned by Technitoys. The real Scalextric, from Margate, sell under a different brand name, which escapes me, in those territories that SCX do as Scalextric. Don't worry someone will be along to explain in more detail, I'm sure.

An analogue SCX car will run on an analogue Scalextric track but it will require an SSD chip if you want to run it as part of a system that uses a Scalextric digital powerbase.

In Spain, Hornby Scalextric (the stuff that is native to the UK) is sold as SuperSlot. The stuff branded as Scalextric in Spain is made by (or was made by. I think there may have been a recent change) Tecnitoys and is sold in the UK as SCX. Analogue cars are interchangeable between systems, unmodified digital cars are not.

Scalextric in the USA is still proper Hornby Scalextric. Only in Spain is Scalextric what is SCX in the rest on the world.

as far as I know it is only in spain that scx is named scalextric , in spain is what we call scalextric named superslot.
you can get adaptor track so you can use your scx track, but the slot is a litle less deep.

Hello markandjanice79 As mrrc65 says you can get sport track to classic/SCX track connectors and I have a couple spare if you would like to try/use them send me a PM message with your name and address and I will send them to you. If they are the BEES NEES you can send me back some Kendle mint cake Chocolate covered preferred. Kidding Cheers John.

Good to see you are keeping that up to date Phil. It is a good explanation of the history.

Thre is a link for Hornby Scalextric in the US. Not sure if it is an "official" manufacturers site.

Also SCX (Spanish Scalextric) have a global web site:

To clear things up for the OP biggrin.gif

YES you can use the cars

You can also use the track if you buy a converter piece - as per giveitwelly's post

NO they are not the same company - but Phil's (scaleslotcars) chart might explain why you thought they were
