Due to a tremendous effort from ACME (Tony Condon) my nest task for my 1973 Zolder quest is ready:

Frank Williams Racing Cars
#25 Iso-Marlboro IR - Howden Ganley
#26 Iso-Marlboro IR - Giovanni "Nanni" Galli

A big Thank You to Tony. Chassis and running gear will be provide mainly by PP, tyres by Loud Bloke and decals as usual by Reissorg.

Unfortunately Nanni will have engine failure on lap 17 and Howden will have an accident due to a jammed trottle on lap 21.

Cheers, Holger
Best regards,
Holger Thor Nielsen

Some further research concerning ths project has shown, that these fine shells by Tony (ACME) represents the ISO Marlboro FX3B used from seasons start including South African GP. After that the Frank Williams Racing Cars team used the upgrated ISO Marlboro IR version.

Thankfully DNQ has provided me we these two fine shells to continue my work on this team:

Please have a look smile.gif

But until I can go any further, I need some help from the hard core fans out there. Looking at this: http://www.racingspo...boro.html?cat=2 it is clear, that Nanni had a normal ISO Marlboro sticker on top of his airbox. But what is the triangular sponsor sticker on Howden´s airbox?

Please help....... Holger

NB! The fine shells from ACME will surely find some new use due to new exciting projects smile.gif Wait out!

Best regards,
Holger Thor Nielsen

Hi Holger,

I would say that it is part of the Marlboro badge, I mean, the air box is red (as the "Marlboro" cigarette pack superior part) and the mentioned triangle represents the inverted "V" that is under the red part.

Note that inside the "white triangle" there is something, most probably, almost surely, the Phillips Morris blazon (that with a horse and a lion).

Have a look here : http://specocar.blog...01_archive.html

Cheers !

André.

Hi André - thanks a lot. You´ve saved my day. I owe you one.

Cheers, Holger

Afterburner: If it was the opposite around, and you owed me one, I would ask for a Martini PA123/6 shell, but that is another story.......

Looking at the images on Bing, it's a ISO Marboro sticker

Hoping the link works.

Mick - thank you for the final confirmation of André´s theory. A Phillip Morris logo it will be.

Masking Hell is over. What a relief. Now I can concentrate on the DFVs:

I freely admit that during my youth I did not pay these ISO cars much attention. I mean, why should I? The team had limited - if any - success, and the drivers were all anonymous to me. Except for my fellow countryman, Tom Belsö, of course.

It is first during my research for these models I realize what a superb and wonderful livery they were sporting forty years ago. Well done, Sir Frank.

With the upcoming decals from Reissorg I can promise you some very special cars for my Zolder grid here.

Please wait out, Holger
Best regards,
Holger Thor Nielsen

Just to give you a quick update about which direction we are hitting:

Approximately forty years too late I am heavily becoming an ISO fan......

Hope to have them finished tomorrow, Sunday.

As predicted. After Rosberg´s (and Hamilton´s, my respect) Triumph at the Motodrome, I present to you my Frank Williams Racing Cars team from 1973:

How it is possible to make such marvelous decals for a shell never to be held in ones hands will forever remain a mystery for me.

MERCI BEAUCOUP, Jean-Pierre.

Well, summary on my Zolder, May 20, 1973 grid: 22 cars down, one to go!

If it hadn´t been for that damn lousy Techno PA123/6, then.....

Cheers, Holger
Best regards,
Holger Thor Nielsen

Very nice work Holger.
I must admit these are very nice liveries which I had not given a 2nd look at prior to your post.
I am envious as usual.
