Slot.it and Hornby have signed an agreement allowing Slot.it to manufacture custom Scalextric Sport Digital PCBs, which will render all Slot.it cars SSD compatible by just inserting the board into the front of the chassis. Old cars will only need a small hole to be drilled into the chassis for fitting, while new cars will feature the hole. A board incorporating SSD and lighting with brakes is also planned, as well as SSD ready Slot.it cars. Release date and price to be advised soon. -------------------- |

This is great. It shows a positive and pro-active approach between manufacturers to get the goods to the consumer in the best way possible.
I'm looking forward to checking this out. Well done guys -------------------- |

Russell you cheat
You took advantage of the Dubai time zone to beat the Sat 21 release date !! Great news anyway, one can be sure that Maurizio's decoders will be more"professional" than the originals (I'm still incensed by the hand throttle idiocy) - I also understand that their mosfets will be suitable for the higher amps Slot.it motors draw Who's next now : Fly ? And will Ninco persevere on their own solution Ciao / Beppe |

wow great scoop, and looks like scalextric are doing the right hob-nobbing to make their system come out on top.
I hope no system wins just yet, I think the competition between systems will probably drive the development. -------------------- |

it will be like most things that have a few major competitors, people always argue over whats best, but it means the companies always produce more and more unique and advanced stuff. if there was only one manufacturer, they would just sit back and watch, and not develop, and not fix any problems as there wouldnt be the oportunity to change to another brand. i think scalextric are good to get the car manufactureres onboard, it means ninco will prob make there chips realy small and easy to fix, and carrera will have to look at ways to get more digital cars too, so you see, now we have progression, this is going to be great!

I like it. If all the companies that Scalextric distributes take a simular position, we will have a variety of chips to fit every car. I was kind of concerned when I saw the size of the current Scalextric chip. There is a lot of room for improvement, the things are huge!
This is really going to upset the poor soul who set up a whole website to promote digital Carrera. I enjoy the brand myself, and have not chosen a digital system, but the way he represented his choice was so biased and unfair, that I am sure this news will really, really bug him. heh heh. |

I checked the slot.it site and there is no news of a SSD/slotit collaboration. There is a picture of their lighting board which was used in the ad (above)

QUOTE (astro @ 21 May 2005, 18:38) its definate, announced at the nscc event at Toyota. Slot it, Fly and a japanese slot car compny have licenced the SSD technology. Is there a press release or is this part of the same rumor about FLY that was released last month? I'm sceptical because of the dubious quality of the print ads. The car is pictured on carrera track and the chip is the slot.it lighting board. Every other photo is from the slot.it web site. Add to that the fact that neither FLY nor slot.it have any information on their sites. I admit its a possibilty, but being the internet, need to verify the source. -------------------- |

Why on earth would anyone do that? For what possible reason? What would be gained, except for loss of credibility? See also:- Slotcenter News Italia Slot And:- Oh, and the source is Mr Maurizio Ferrari, the owner of Slot.it. Hoo boy! Kind regards, Russell -------------------- |

why are some people seem to get nervous when a good step (slot-it and scalex) is made by a sytem they don't have themselves??????????????????????????????????
i would say: very good step forward for the ssd owners! (which i don't have) so mr slot-it: can you please also make scx-digi cars??????? anyway they will also run on the ninco digi without any modification needed! |
