Here are a few pictures of the prototype Protoslot Alfa Roméo 33/2 body kits, to be released later this month.

The versions being made are the cars which finished 4th, 5th and 6th in the Le Mans 24-Hours.

Kind regards,

Russell

COUNT ME IN! I am very excited to add this car to my collection! So any idea what we are going to do about wheels for this beauty. Are there any wheels currently in production that would suit this car?

It is very difficult to judge a car from pre production photographs, but I am a little disappointed with the appearance of the Alfa, (I was really looking forward to this release), it does appear a little "toy like".

Great idea Jamie regarding the wheels, we will just have to see what is supplied with the kit.

Also it looks like the pre-production car is set up to use the excellent PCS 32 chassis, which means a lot of intrusion into the cabin area by the motor....perhaps I should resurrect my PCS/Fly hybrid sidewinder?...

Regards

Alan

Alloy wheels with resin inserts are supplied with the kit.

They're great looking cars & are on my shopping list.

Pardon my ignorance but what year did they run at Le Mans & what did they run against?

Sorry Eno Dog, the versions being made are from the 1968 Le Mans 24-Hours. There were actually 6 Alfa 33B-2's entered; 4 works Autodelta entries and 2 Team V.D.S. entries:-

Autodelta: Giunti / Nanni / Galli, 4th overall – 1st 2L prototypes
Autodelta: Facetti / Dini, 5th
Autodelta: Casoni / Biscaldi, 6th
Autodelta: Vaccarella / Baghetti, DNF
Team VDS: Pilette / Slotemaker, DNF
Team VDS: Trosch / Von Vendt, DNF

The race was won by the John Wyer Automotive Ford GT40 driven by Pedro Rodriguez and Lucien Bianchi, from the Porsche 907 Lang Heck of Gianwirco 'Rico' Steineman and Dieter Spoerry. 3rd was the Porsche 908 of Jochen Neerpasch and Rolf Stommelen, followed by three of the four Autodelta SpA Alfa Romeo T33B/2's. David Piper and Richard Attwood were 7th in Piper's Ferrari 250LM.

Kind regards,

Russell

Damn Sam... nice!

I have a feeling that the car will look better once it is fully finished and detailed.

Are they likely to do the short tailed version, such as the cars that raced in that years Targa Florio.

Robin Owen did a superb oil painting in 1990 of the Baghetti/Biscaldi Autodelta car No.182 shown leading the works Porsche 907 of Elford/Maglioli in the 68 Targa.
