Hi,

A few answers for folks:

Bwaminispeed

Wheels are .507dia on the proto rim. Should be about right.

Nino barlini

Can do Brazil. Yes.

Quintus

I’m talking with potential stockholder in Jo’burg. You should be able to get the models OK.

Roveros

The Mustang and the Charger run on differently tooled chassis but have the same design elements. FYI, the specs on the Charger are:
Weight 96 gms
Total model length – bumper to bumper 162mm (a little longer than a Scaley Nascar at 158mm).
Width at widest: 60.5mm
Wheelbase: 92mm
Guide to Axle: 102mm – that’s guide flag spindle shaft to rear axle.

PeteN

You don’t want to hear this but…….…the wheels (on these models) are a push-fit on a 3/32 (2.38mm) finely made, accurate (and straight) axle with a knurled end. There are reasons for this at this early stage, however you will be getting some news shortly which WILL please you, if knurls are your pet hate. Allow me to let this issue rest until I can provide full details for you.

Thanks all,

Jules

Does the typhoon motor have the same external dimensions as a mabuchi? Just wondering about interchangability.

Does the Dodge come with the two bad guys and does the Stang come with a 1/32 McQueen?

cheers

The TYPHOON is an FC130 style motor designed to fit in any standard chassis that takes this generic shape, genuine Mabuchi or otherwise. TYPHOON will therefore fit Fly, Scaley, Slot.it etc with no problem.

WRT figures, miniature Bill Hickman and Paul Genge look-a-likes are having their shoes polished right now. WRT McQueen, for sure he will be modeled for the Mustang - it's done already.

Cheers and thank-you for your reply. I want a Charger even more now. Should be really stable and easy to punt around with those dimensions. I am a fan of racing liveries but the black one will be my first purchase with a couple of big round black on white racing numbers added. These should be great additions to American muscle or classic touring classes. As well as for the collector market.

Looks like there will be room in there for a quartet of LEDs for lights and room for a scaley saloon chip for those of us who would like brake lights! Cool!

Best of luck with this. I was planning to stop buying cars when I have my last 2 needed for my own LeMans collection. (Corvette C6R and Pug 908). These two will change that......

Jules,

The cars look good - can't wait to see them in person.

Any chance you'll produce some MOPAR muscle, aside from the Charger?

AAR and a HEMI 'Cuda or Dodge Challenger would be nice. biggrin.gif

Thanks,

Dan

Just to thank Pioneer for interactivity on the forum, and answering my query so quickly. The cars look fantastic, and front axle movement is one of the factors that should mean they go well. It's strange that when Carrera started doing Americana a few years ago, I wasn't interested, in theory. But somehow they grow on you and end up creeping into the shopping cart and on to the racetrack! They just have a lot of presence even in 1:32.

Thank you, Jules for your attention! My main concern with knurled wheels is the need to make the bushing oversized in order for it to fit over the knurling, which gives a loose fit on the axle. I don't see any way around it. Looking forward to more exciting news, thanks again.

Actually, it's not that difficult. All you need do, is to roll the knurl flat and level with the rest of the axle (machine could be set up to do this as it is knurling, so, no real extra operation or cost). This will leave the knurled portion the same size as the plain portion, the plastic of the wheel will still flow into the knurl grooves to get the grip it needs once pressed on. cool.gif

Actually, it may hold better, because you won't have that nasty raised knurl grinding at the plastic as they are pressed on. The wheels would press on easier and straighter, and, once pressed on, the plastic would flow into the grooves, because, that's what plastic does.

This way you can have knurled axles, and, decent fit on the bearings. smile.gif

Having just looked at their website and seen the fairly reasonable (in my opinion) rrp, I'm seriously tempted by these cars. I'm wondering how this mustang will compare with scalextric mustang, I can imagine they'd be pretty similar??

The question is, can I afford them on top of all the other cars that are tempting... rolleyes.gif
