The boom in slot cars especially classic cars is making life difficult for us poor scratch builders and kitbashers.
The joy of building and owning something a bit different gets harder by the month as no sooner has the paint dried on your latest "masterpiece" than the announcement comes of a commercially available version of the very same slot car.
I'm getting some Cox, Revell, Monogram and K&B cars from the 60s up and running again and sometimes for a change I use a static kit body to create an unusual car. So I set about putting together a 1/24 Stirling Moss/Graham Hill Le Mans Ferrari SWB using an Italeri kit body on a Revell chassis - this is one of my favourite classic racing cars and it's looks great in Rob Walker's colours of dark blue with the white stripe.
Kitbashed Italeri/Revell Ferrari
I thought I was safe with this car especially as it's in the less popular 1/24th scale but I didn't count on Carrera - what have they just announced for release but the Stirling Moss Tourist Trophy Ferrari SWB
