Hi guys,

I've just been looking at the new 1:24th scale rules. The maximum width allowed for pre-'63 sports/GT is 70mm. I've just measured the Italeri Mercedes 300SL and the Monogram 300SLR and both come in at just under 72mm. Can I suggest that we rephrase the rules so that the maximum width applies to the rolling chassis as I'm sure there are other body anomalies.

When I can get to Wellinbugger next I'd like to discuss the possibility of organising a meeting for Hard-body cars next year. There are already quite a lot of cars hat would comply from Double Trouble but it would also be fun to build something with modern compnents.

Any thoughts?

Cheers

Hi John,
You're the first person to make any comment about the 1/24th car standards, I'm pleased someone has read them.
We did expect that there would be some adjustments needed and can't foresee any problems with that.
Malcolm at Wolves had once again raised the possibility of a 1/24th Earlybird style event for sometime next year which is why the standards were put on the site in the first place.
I would certainly be up for helping you run an event at Wellingborough.
Talk soon.
Cheers.
Mick.

Hi Mick,

I've had plenty of time to read stuff following my fall the other week. I'm still not able to get on the bike to go anywhere.

We should be able to raise some interest. We used to race Hard-body cars at North London. I'm thinking of raiding my old TSRF 1:24 chassis for motor, gears and wheels.

Cheers

The hard body cars used at Double Trouble haven't produced a crash fest, possibly due to keeping speed down by using Ortmanns rather than sponge

Cheers
