Well, I thought I would post 1 more set today, hope no one minds...

This is a set by GGF of Germany. It has 2 F1 cars; GGF made 4 1/24th cars in all so I also included them. (they also made 1/48-1/36thscale cars & 1/32 cars) The green car is a Lotus, the red car is a Ferrari, the blue car is a Brabham-Repco and the orange car im not sure? Perhaps some experts could tell us?

These cars were also sold by the French company Circuit 24.

Thanks,i promise no more today,

Bernard

Thanks Bernard, as you could guess, these "Circuit 24" cars have a special place in the French collector's heart!

The orange one is a BRM H-16.

According to the book on C-24 by Dominique Jouet (son of the founder), the set and the separate cars were only sold by Circuit 24 in 1972-73. And GGN was also distributed in Italy by INGAP. The imported boxes for the cars were marked "Grand Prix".

These are funny collectibles: I've seen them go for anywhere from 10 to 100 euros. The cars are actually pretty well done, probably a bit overscale and a bit chunky, but still good looking. Often missing pieces of the exhaust/intakes. A Buhler motor so not a speed demon, but steady and smooth!

Hey ,
I can give you some information about the company GGF / GGN :
GGF is standing for Georg Grötsch Fürth , a company for model trains and other toys . The company exists from 1956 till septembre 1970 in Fürth . Then they moved to Nürnberg and the name changed to GGN . The company was closed in june 1978 . So you know that GGF cars were built untill septembre 1970 and GGN from this time untill june 78 .
The track pieces are compatibel with the Carrera 124 / Exclusive / Evolution ones .
I never saw a 1/24 GGF car in real . I own 3 in 1/32 scale and a lot of GGN cars in 1/40 because they were my slotcars when I was a child
. I know that the 1/40 tracks were sold as GRAND PRIX from the shopping house QUELLE in Fürth . Later under their label GOOD PLAY .

Grüsse Ralf,

I'm not so sure, I have my doubts about the origin of the smaller scale, I truly believe it comes from Hong Kong and is marketed by the brand, but I think 1:24 and 1:32 scales are made of Bavaria.

In any case, we will not ever find any of its production to 4-leaf clover lucky, ha ha ha

Thanks for providing such precise dates

Viel Spass.

Bernard :

The circuits used the same cover 1.24 circuitos to 1:32, they was not even changed the label of 1:24 in them.

1:32 are similar as 1:24, but with sticker 1300 or 1400 ( 1:32 set circuit reference ) .

Then my contribution :

1:24 slot were effectively distributed in Italy by INGAP and 1:24 and 1:43 in France by Circuit 24. The brand in Germany and possible in some country, was marketed as "Grand Prix", aptly named if you really do not want to compete with anyone, but to become a cheap option for native brands. If I showed this picture, probably German fans will know me to make them remember ... (Fleischmann fans will understand).

1:24 and 1:32 cars are Gama Rallye " inspired " .

Briefly talk about the GT to say 1:40 left in standart version or version with direction and that his two cars Porsche Carrera RSR and BMW C3 as the system was clearly "inspired" in systems and Carrera Carrera140 Servo140.

In the case of the 1:24 and 1:40 GP GP, I also advise the book he cites Don, because they are well photographed and cataloged. 1:32 however do not appear in the book because it came to be marketed in France, but this scale 1:32 is my specialty ...

All 1:32 models were :

Ferrari 156 GP, with 6V motor
Lotus Climax 25 GP, with 6V motor
GTO'64 Ferrari 250, with 12-14V Bühler motor.
Porsche C6, with 12-14V motor Bühler.

1:32 GP models are obviously copies of the first Universal Race GP. They are poorly configured, but this type of Ferrari and Lotus Climax. Second versions can be found leaking pipes and extra.

1:32 models are the Ferrari 250 GT GTO'64, and Porsche C6. Both are an obvious reply to Gama Rally and like them, use a strong plastic and very rough forms and details for the body, while the drivers tray is made of soft plastic vacuform. The fanciful stickers and anarchy of colors in your headlights and windscreen (clear, blue or yellow) give them one more aspect of toy which in itself already had, further discrediting a whole.

The only positive aspect is that unlike the original de Gama Rally, copies of Georg Grötsch if compatible with the usual systems (SCX, Strombecker, Fleischmann etc). The steel frame of the two makes GT'sa 1:32 tremendously heavy.

The steel wheels are also exactly the same as they used the Lotus 18 GP Troby and Porsche 804, Ferrari Tipo 156, Lotus-Climax 25 and Cooper-Climax and some BMW F2 (ie the first GP) Universal Race.

Tires have Continental recorded as the Rally range. A curiosity that so far I've only seen this mark, the direction of the guide is crudely corrected with a paste with 3-point, 2 on the guide and one on a ledge in the chassis.

The engine is a 12-14V Bühler, the stock engine in many cars slot 1:32 Central European trademark (Carrera Universal, Circuit 24, Fleischmann Auto-Rally, Gama Rally, Märklin Sprint, Stabo car, Troby).

Very interesting Jose. Heres a set im confused on. This a Carrera battery set with a Ferrari & a Lotus. Ive compared them to their Carrera counterpoints. The cars seem like GGF cars,so did Carrera outscource the cars for a cheap battery set to GGF? Or did my set come with the wrong cars ? I cant find any reference to this set in my Carrera catalogs or my book on the history of Carrera. Also heres a photo of another GGF car around 1/32nd scale,a Renault Alpine. Thanks,Bernard

Hi Bernard,
it is clear that the set can be read " Carrera " but not a original " Carrera Universal ".

Georg Grötsch again took advantage of the prestige of other brands to sell their product slot second category.

A curiosity: Stabo wanted to make his branche slot, it was going to be called "Stabo Carrera ", but finally had to change to "Stabo car.

So I think that not in Germany, but in a country where " Carrera Universal " influences, which has marketed this set ... maybe Switzerland, Austria, Holland ... ?

Do you remember where you got this set circuit?

I know this set and not know this sub-brand ... GF? and logo, but obviously behind this, is Georg Grötsch.

This Alpine has not paid my attention, because I consider less than 1:32 scale, nevertheless I will try to investigate something.

Hey Bernard ,
I think your box set is a pre Universal Carrera Set . There is a badge NF which stands for Neuhierl Fürth , the founder of Carrera . Maybe your set is the very first Carrera set from 1963 . It works with batterys so it had only 2 contacts . I think this Universal system with 3 contacts followed your set in the same year .
Your Renault Can Am car is a GGN .

@ Pechuga : Thanks for your information and pics . I only know the white Porsche and the Ferrari .

I read that Neuhierl started producing Slot Cars 1963 with the name CARRERA SYSTEM . 1966 was the 124 born and the name CARRERA 132 UNIVERSAL was not used before 1967 ! But I know older pictures when the CARRERA logo was blue / yellow . But I don`t know in which year it was changed to red / white . So your set must be between 1963 and 67 I think .

Actually I read that the Carrera logo in 1963 was yellow on blue . Bernards battery set should be from 1964 because in 1965 Carrera started with the well known blue boxes . But it`s Carrera and not GGF .
And Bernards Alpine is a 1/40 GGN .
