1:32 Rat Rod?

Hi,

I'd like to start thinking about making a 1:32 Rat Rod slot car.
I've been looking for some time now for a model T type plastic kit to work from, but have had no luck so far here in the UK. The best I have found is this, but I gave this info to a mate that can 3D print, and he told me the file is unfinished, so can't be printed without a lot of work.

I can make the whole car from scratch (I used to do it for a living) but I don't really want to invest all the time that would be needed, I'd rather get a jump start with a plastic body.

Can anybody point me to a kit sold in the UK I can rob the body from?

Thank you :)
Rob.

There's also a couple of files on Cults3d , you will have to pay for the files.
There are no wheels or chassis just the body and a little bit of the front axle shock area.
Should be able to find something that you can use. Also try the 3d printables shop it's got much the same file but it's faster than Cults3d.
Cheers,
John.
PS, if you want something decent you will have to pay for it.

Have a look at FibreSlots there might be some bodies there that might give you a start, also the SCD Slot Stox Bodies might be usable. I have just started playing around with the SCD Ford Pop body, and also have the FibreSlot Ford Pop. Will try to post a couple of pictures later today.

SCD Slot Stox Bodies

Below are some of the FibreSlot bodies.

Or how about starting with the Anson 1:32 ? scale diacast model of the 1931 Peerless Car. give it a roof chop, channel the body, and sit it low on a chassis. With a "Rat Rod" distressed paint job, suitable wheels, tyres and details it might work.

AMT makes a '32 Ford in their Scale Stars 1/32 line. I know some guys in a local club have used them to make hot rods.

Pyro and Lifelike made a bunch of cheap old car kits. You can easily turn any one of them into a rat rod. Check classifieds and EBash.

Yep, the Anson 1:32 will do!!
I found a few really cheap ones, I can re-cast the body in resin and take it from there.
Just need to find a 1:32 blower motor now :)

A static 1/32 funny-car kit from Atlantis will likely have something like that.

The Ansons seem a bit large to me, but they are advertised as 1:32. Will be interested to see how your build goes.
Look out for the diacast "Majorette Hot Rod 1:32 scale some of these come with "chromed" engines, that might be usable.

Atlantis has a "parts request" submission area on their website, so you might be able to pay only for all the engine parts.

Crap... just saw this...

If you are looking to buy parts or decals for an Atlantis kit, parts can be purchased within the USA Only.

Been looking for these all evening in the UK, can't find them, postage from the US is ridiculous

If you have them and can post to the UK for a fair price, I'm all ears :)
Otherwise I guess I'm scratch building all the way, again! (did that for a living for 8 years)
Those cheep 1/36 diecast model can make a nice hot rod! Made this one awhile ago it's a bit heavy and the tyres are a bit hard but it is a blast holding it sideways around corners.
Cheers,
John.

Yes, postage has gome "rediculous", there are currently "Parma" slot cars on Ebay at £8.11 but £80.20 for postage.

Had you considered a look at Slot Rats Rod Spain on facebook?

They do a small range of Resin UV printed Rat Rods, never used one myself but they look interesting and prices seem reasonable. Some trucks available too.

I'm in talks with them now and he has explained that UK post is more than the quoted 7Euro, he's not saying anything about being out of stock.

Pleased you liked my suggestion. I'd be interested in your build should you go ahead and your opinion of the kits.
