This isn't a car I would have even considered before but an upcoming interesting proxy got me searching through 50's film footage of the Monte Carlo Rally, lo and behold this huge monster was spotted rounding a downhill left hand hairpin and I thought...THAT'S the one!

Luckily there's a 3D file available for this car so was duly purchased, setup and printed.

3D printed in a triple blend resin, will have a 3D printed chassis, possibly a SW.

This is now sprayed with etch primer whilst I decide on the main colour.

This is definitely one that will be seen on our Rally stages...but not sure it's a wise choice for a proxy that has some plastic tracks and a hump back bridge...

Variation is what makes these proxy so good, shame the rally wont be heading our way I'd have enjoyed driving that beast

A further websearch found this eligibility list for Monte Carlo Historique which states it was a cabriolet - not quite the correct term but it is a Danish website.

Rather a strange choice to use a convertible but don't forget that convertibles cars ran in NASCAR for a very short time in the 50's before they were banned.
Th entry list for the proxy event simply states Oldsmobile 88 so hopefully you will be ok.

I'm aware it's a soft top, I could paint the roof black but it'd look exactly the same so this one has a white coloured soft top.

The original intention was to enter this in the proxy but looking at some of the Rally stages in it not sure it's a sensible choice, nonetheless it'll be seen on our Rally stages.

I have a more sensible choice for the proxy, a Merc 190SL W121

Sorry didn't realise that you knew it was a soft top. Had a quick read of the proxy regs earlier and there is a mention that large cars might have problems on some of the stages so it sounds like the Mercedes is a better option.
