If ever there was a large saloon? This... is it. Another beautiful static kit by Gunze Sangyo.

The yellow didn't quite jump out and say Boulevard Cruiser to me. Testors Lime Ice and clear coat look interesting.

The chassis measured and fabricated.

The chassis was partially assembled and tested to see how the body fits. Oops. It sits too low, and the hydraulic lift kit was out of stock. Darn.

I measured about 30 washers to find 4 that were 1.51 to 1.52 mm in thickness. Laid them on the set up block, and used the rocker panels on the washers to set the initial body height.

Urethane washers at 0.7 mm were added between the body posts and chassis for final body height of 2.2 mm.

The interior still needs to be finished and added. The soft top will end up on the car. More pics to come when the car is completed. Thank you very kindly for looking.

At first I was worried that it would even fit on the track. Then I compared it to another car that races regularly at our club. The Caddy is actually 1mm shorter than the Daytona! Who knew?

I can probably fit 2 x angle winders on the rear axle. One before and one after. I can probably install an inline to the front axle and have a 3-motor slot car! Totally silly, but possible.
Gotta love the low rider.

Only 3?

One motor per wheel would be a possible in that monster!

It does define the term 'lowrider' though, a great looking machine.

Ken

Another amazing build and a most worthy addition to your growing stable. Would be most interesting to see a photo, if poss please, of this Caddy next to your purple Mini. A stark contrast in all respects.
A brilliant build of a monster of a car, I like the colour, it will stand out on any track.

2 Sidewinders and an inline in this Ford.

Here you go Laurence. For size comparison. One huge saloon along with a Scalex VW, and Mini.

Das boat has arrived at the dock. The Chip Foose 5-spoke wheels were changed for Cadillac hub caps. 18-inch subwoofers hide the motor. The bullet tail lights were a bit of a challenge... poop happens. Roof is glued on.

This is one very large saloon! By far the largest car in my gaggle.

Just out of curiosity Ken . When you cut out your chassis do you do 2 at a time from one piece of tubing i.e mirror images to cut down waste of material ?
Hi Graham. Cutting the chassis out freehand is hard enough by itself. Technically you could do it. But the cost of the entire chassis is $3 Canadian funds. I'm not going to go nuts over saving $1.50 (Not even enough money for a medium coffee at Tim Hortons).

Check the Triumph TR4A build tutorial to see the method I use to cut the chassis out without ruining it. The waste comes out in 3-pieces every time.

Search "aluminum chassis" to find it. It's about 4-pages back now.
