A friend at my local static model club gave this to me and said... Make it go! I cannot disappoint such a friend. Thanks Mike!
Too much red for my liking. Tamiya bright orange looks better.
The box art shows the car towering above the ground. So I lowered it a little.
The tech guy at our club said I need to lose the Chip Foose wheels in favour of period correct steel stock car wheels if I want to run Classic Stock Car. Party pooper!
Custom aluminum chassis. Sloting Plus roller bearings. BWNC1 motor with 10x25 gears. Professor Motor axles and wire. Slot It wheels, guide, and braid. DArt urethane tires and inserts.
Startling how lowering the ride height has changed the entire gait of this car. I'd keep the current wheels firmly in situ, too. Another KRZ Meisterstuck.
That is a great looking car ,you make more scratch built cars in a day than I can make in a month!!!
One question, do any of these kits come with a V8 motor and trans that maybe ,just maybe, you would be willing to part with ???
I usually try and post a pic of the entire kit when I start a project. Many 1/32 kits have hoods than don't open. So they don't come with engines or transmissions.
I might have a 4-cylinder engine from an Airfix TR4A or something. But nothing interesting like a V8 to install in a hot rod.
Also. I live in Toronto. A small fishing village of about 3.2 million people. I'm the 4th igloo on the left. How would I get it to you?
Thank you very kindly, Steveaca, Trevor, William, and Chuck.
Thank you for the tip William. But the final photo of the steel wheel is the only choice I'm allowed to use for "Stock Car" racing. Or the Chip Foose 5-spokes would have remained on the car.
My humble apologies Trevor. I seem to have skipped over your question by mistake. I buy these kits at flea markets, hobby shows, and EBay. Not in stores.
I installed a black card as the base for an interior. The driver and steering wheel will be installed when I dress the car up with numbers and sponsors.
Here is a similar type driver installation that went into a 49 Tudor.
Trevor. Here is an example of a recent stock car I built for a friend. I used the same driver as seen above holding the steering wheel, with card-stock. I re-used the old roll cage and fire extinguisher.
I just need to find the time to finish the GTO. I'll post the a pic of the car when completed. Here's the main sponsor.
My humble apologies for not finishing this thread. The car is completed. We now have decals, a driver, full roll cage, and fire exstinguisher. A small piece of brass was added to bring the car to minimum weight of just over 100-grams. The brass plate alone weighs 27-grams.
