So here’s my entry to a proxy series.
Scalextric Datsun 260z.

I’m hoping for this car to represent the 1970 BRE Datsun 240z.

So far front lights filled in and panels shaped. Front bumper adjusted, needs some filler and finishing.

Rear bump mounts filled.

Plasti-card front spoiler to make and I’m looking forward (and nervous) to getting the colour on the shell.

Which proxy?

It’s the 3rd proxy race for vintage/classic Scalextric cars organised by RSSLOTRACING (Colin Spark) via Facebook.

Primer day and as you can see many projects on the go. New threads will be created when I have progressed the individual projects.
Primer as usual showing many flaws that need addressed.

The Datsun has been de-badged had it’s wing/side lights removed and bumper re-profiled. The
bumper will eventually sit flush.

Quick update.
I’ve been working on the frint skirt.
Plasti-card and model filler.
Needs a little more filler and a rub down.
Few flaws filled in.
Hopefully primer on Friday and the white coat Sunday. That is if the primer doesn’t pick up anymore flaws.

this is exactly my goal for an old scally 260z body
currently at the de-badging / headlight filling stage
intend to make red/white BRE version

Hi Kev, that’s the car I’m doing.

Whitetop coats are done so I’m going to leave it to harden and hopefully next weekend I’ll get it masked and the red coat on.
Cars now a runner, but it’s terrible so needs some fettling.

Awaiting for decal delivery from Patto’s.

Quick update:
Front valance to paint red, twin exhaust pipes to add.
looking to spruce up the interior tray and maybe change the drivers head.
Little tidying of the paint work and the rear lights and back panel to paint.

The paints Halfords Ford Race Red and I made the front valance out of plasti-card and filler.

Update.

Still a little touching up to do.
I’ve primed the cock pit and I’m going to change the drivers head. Thinking of using an Immense Miniatures James hunt head as I have one spare.

not John Morton? and I believe he was using the full cover helmet by then.

Just not sure about the wheels, but it’s probably because I like bigger wheels😉

I’ve ordered some more Immense Miniatures drivers heads. But if they don’t arrive in time for the proxy race, Jame’s head will have to do.

When I get the car back from the proxy I’ll change the wheels. But they need to be original for the proxy.

Exhaust done all decals applied.
Currently working on the interior tray.
