Holy cow what. A concept!

Great project, i did something similar with my 6 car project in terms of the schedule of what needs modifying. This is just on a much larger scale.
Looking forward to see the progress.

So... First of all... Storage

Storage comprises a set of coloured drawers £25 on special from Morrisons. Separation for the cars is made from foam board and yields space for 12 cars per drawer in two layers of 6, plus some room for small spare parts.

Where multiple drivers drove a car I have indicated the one modelled with italics. Choice of one driver over another is simply personal choice.

Hi David

It's taken a while, it took me a while to get to grips with milliput, it seemed to take forever to file and kept clogging teh files.

I am not sure which year I will do next, I have a decent start on 81 and 82 so it will probably be one of them, 82 most likely. I expect '79 to be afterwards.. and.. we'll see about '78.

The Lotus in the pits is a static model. It was a 3D model of a Lotus 79 I found, then I reshaped the bodywork in an FE Meshing program we use for work and similarly took a 3D model of a Ligier Tail and morphed that to a more appropriate shape for the lotus.

I am working on some more static models.

The intention is also to heat and deform a couple for incidents around th track. I'll print some figures for drivers climbing out or looking forlorn.

Also going to work on more figures to fill out the pitlane to try to recapture some of the overcrowded nature of the pit lane in the 80s

Cheers :)

what a great job!

how did you do for the decals?

the changes you made to the models are magnificent

buona giornata

Giuseppe
Hi

Thank you

The decals i just did it the way most here do. I bought clear decal paper for light backgrounds and decals without white and i bought white decal paper for dar backgrounds and decals with white.

One has to be careful cutting out the decals on white paper to minimise teh white showing at the edges but paint can be used at the edges to hide the white.

Then its a case of getting good images of the cars or if one is lucky, finding the decor somewhere, perhaps in papercraft versions of the cars.

Stampa400 is an excellent site for papercraft F1 models.

The milliput i had difficulty with and i am still trying to figure a better way to work with it. Often i attached some plasticard as a guide and fitted the milliput to that before removing the plasticard and covering with a layer of superglue.

Wonderful project in it's scale of ambition. B) Every models is a gem!

I'm the real world: Did the customer Williams cars receive assistance from Frank & co. or was it simply a case of, "You've got your cars, now get on with it!" ? :O

From what i've read, many of the customer FW07s were for Aurora use.

I think they even ran under different rules? Without skirts? My understanding was that Desire Wilson's car was set up correctly for the test day at Brands in '80, on which she set times more than good enough to make the grid, but that the car then went off to be used for Aurora (de Villota?) and when it came back it had Aurora settings instead of F1 and they didn't get it sorted in time to qualify, although ultimately it was raced by Keegan in the Grand Prix, with a livery that combined his and her sponsorship. She was certainly good enough to have qualified.

It seems that they were probably left to get on with it... perhaps apart from a spares service or something like that.
