It's been reported in the NSCC newsletter that this years Goodwood collectors set will contain the new Maserati and Vanwall GP cars. No hints as to whether they will be different to the general release ones or just "dirty" versions.

The set will be launched at The Festival of Speed in July.

These will be brilliant.

These will be snapped up VERY quickly by all those connoisseurs of quality out there so you'd best get your orders in now for at least two - one for the cabinet and one put in a safe-deposit box to go up and up and up in value.

Oops!

Here endeth the sarcasm.

As you were.

Well that sort of killed this post dead didn't it Wankel?

I am reserving judgement on these two planned releases until I see them and get to try them out.

I would leave the Mopedesque quips to the master mate. he does not chicken out and spoil it with a gentle sarcasm alert at the end

There's little doubt that the dirty GT40 Goodwood set was produced in optimistically large numbers. Optimistic from the point of view of instant sell out and short or even medium term profit. But at least they weren't over-priced in the first instance and probably will regain their cost value, given long enough.

As for the new set, I don't believe much is yet known about the cars or the numbers that will be produced. Is there any information at all yet?

Gentle sarcasm? Moi?

Methinks the lady doth protest to much, m'lord!

Sorry, Mr Material. I just couldn't resist. What can I say? I am weak.

I should add (I should but will I?) that I am actually getting quite keen on the idea of these models. I'll not buy any "Limited Editions" but I might just try one... that damned duffer of a L88 of mine is still fresh in my mind though.

Only what I put before, Meco.

As they say in greengrocer circles "that shallot"

Right.....yes.....erm.....well according to the NSCC mag the set will be launched in July at the Goodwood Festival of Speed. But the FOS, according to Goodwood themselves, is at the end of June.

I can see Adrian and a huge pile of boxes in the middle of an empty field!

You could check my info by looking in your own copy of the NSCC mag, Wankel, because you did join up again this year, didn't you?

JEXY!!! Thumbscrews needed over here now!!

Mr.M

PS I got my recent correspondence from Goodwood out to confirm the date and it invites me and my guests to the Thursday night members ball! Anybody want to go? Only £160 a head!

Edited for yet another dateline inaccuracy!

Do you think they will have a 'chassis', Mac? I somehow doubt that it will be anything much deserving of the name, but it would be nice to see. Not to be disloyal to you, I certainly will be getting the Maser and Vanwall, but only as companion pieces to my Pre-adds!

Thumbscrews are so last century, after serious discussion at the highest levels, we now use Ninco Axle pullers to extract subs from new and renewing members!

You hold him down I'll get his wallet!

See you Sunday
