The 2004 World Proxy Race rules are now posted at:

http://www.geocities.com/h_m_c_c/index.htm
This one is for sedan based silhouette cars cars. So now you all have a project to fill in the holidays!

This will be first of two proxy races to be conducted next year. The second will be for Sports /Gt cars built during the 1950's. Rules for this one will be posted in the new year and will be conducted later in the year.

Merry Christmas all.

Some of the guys are having problems with the pop ups blocking parts of most of the page......

I have added a copy of the rules to my page

Chris......
Adrian

Right now I have a Ninco Mercedes DTM done up and in the testing stage.... And I also have just finished a Ninco Callaway Vetter..... also in the testing stage......

No being a great at making mods to bodies I will be sticking with the RTR bodies for this race.....

Chris....
<<I assume due to no magnets that these cars are allowed to be weighted?>>

Turismo

Yes, you will need weight
most of the real good running cars from the ALMS race we had last year.. crossed the scales at 150 grams + I think the heavy weight came in at 174 grams.....

To run well on my track you need weight and you HAVE to have the front wheels touching the track.... the Tripod set up just doesn't work on my track...

The DTM car I have goes 155 grams and the vette goes a bit over 170. and both are fast and very good handling....

With the proxy racing you want a driver friendly car.....

If you are entering and need info on set up for my track give me a shout.... glad to help....

Turismo

Nice looking track..... good combination of speed and handling...... Yes, you can test on it but as you saw on the routed track you ran your race on the routed tracks are a different world

Are you going to be doing up a scratch built chassis or modifying a RTR??

Scratch build is really the way to go.....

And most of the tuna (fish) tires will work well on the routed track we will be running on......

Adrian

Is the Supra the new MRRC one?? or one you are going to do up from a model kit??

alway fun seeing and driving your cars......

AS soon as we stated laying out the rules and I knew what bodies we were talking for the class I got started........

<<what were in for can you tell me are those 90 degree bends chicaned or is that an optical illusion>>

Graham

your eyes are not playing tricks on ya..... yes there is a chicane area (about 3 foot long) between the two truns, Oh yeah and the turns are chicanes too

Adrain

Nice work...... can you fix the link to inlarge the pictures??

Chris......
<<sorry to tell you this Chris but I took the front tyres off and found 6/10ths of a second with out any other mods so Im off to find some low friction wheels and a lighter body.>>

Don't be sorry..... I would be VERY happy to find another 6/10s off my lap times...

That just shows the difference between the two tracks we run on and have to try to set up for...

If you want you can shim the gudie down to get the tripod set up and I will try it again on my track when I start testing the cars..... But it is don't work I can start taking shims out until the fronts are rolling on the track.....

I have started using the Slot-it zero grip times for the fronts on my cars.. I know I had a problem on your tracks and I think this will cure that......

Chris......
Hi Russell

Sorry but one of the drivers I hope to have (Dave England) is out of town most of the time with his new job....... But I am shooting for March 20th as the race date..

Chris
Graham

the track record is 4.98........ with my CLK, but the best I could in qualifying for the race was 5.0 something... I deleted the info for last year and like a fool didn't save it......

The problem is that with the new var. power supply i have I have the volts set at
13.5.... last years was run with the old battery/charger system and that was turning out 14.9 volts..... Motors run much cooler at 13.5

With the 13.5 I have may cars turning in 5.2 lap times.. with new tires the Vette gave a best of 5.187 :) But I have already worn the tires out on the car and will have to replace them before the race........

Remember guys the dead line is the 15th of Mar.... so get cracking..... And I will also post this on the site but the entry fee will be raise to 20.00...... the extra money is to cover postage to Victor's track in Calf. and I will send most of the entry fee money to him so he can post the cars back to the owner so they car prep their cars for the Aussy race.....

Graham...... the ferrari looks GREAT.......

Chris.....

Hi Alan

I see not problem with going with the bigger tires...... there is a min. dia. rule but you can go bigger..... I use 13/16 tires (21mm) on all my cars.....

Are you using the slot-it sidewinder bracket??? if so you will need the 21mm tires so that the gear clear the braid on my track......
Okay guys........ The cars have started to roll in.... I have Larry Shephard's two Capri cars and today the "Down Under" gangs showed up.....

I have done some testing and then did the qualifying for the cars I have.... I have updated my site with pictures of the cars and the chassis... As well as the qualifying times of the cars I have....

http://jbriggsk9.tripod.com/chrisbriggsslotcarpage/id16.html

You can see the cars in the 2004 World Proxy First look section and the chassis in "what's under the hood" Car pictures in the Proxy info section....

I am waiting for cars from Erling Brox in Norway, Alan, Greg and Bill.... Graham and several others from his club.. Russell and who else?????

Chris
<<Erling: glad that you managed to get something finished. Looks good, I hope it goes as good as it looks>>

Phil.......must be you haven't checked the qualifying times today :)))

Chris.....
Graham

Larry's front motored chassis is the slowest of his entries...... The car handles well but this one had a 26k V12 where his other is using the 29K v12

Chris
Phil

Yes, I know I have created a MONSTER :)))))) Erling and I have been close friends for years now...... He was the first person I ever tried to teach how to scratch build over the internet...... And he was a quick learner :))))

As most of use know it is very hard to discribe how to build something like these with just some works and a few pictures.... have to have some talent on the other end to get the job done......

But it has been fun and that is the one reason that I started my site to help new builders.....

And I have learned a LOT over the years with the proxy racing..... Russell got me to build my first anglewinder... And I have picked up all kinds of ideas from the pictures I have seen of the guys chassis and even more by hosting a race here... Nothing like seeing the real thing in person......

Chris
Okay guys...

I have just updated my page with the pictures of Erling, Alan and Greg's cars.....

As of now we have 14 cars that have arrived.... And the Graham's and his crews is in the mail... And Bill Brehm's car just arrived a few mins. ago.... Russell are you going to make it??? Anyone else have cars on the way??

This looks like it is going to be another tight race......

Chris.
Phil

You are so right... I think we have all come a long ways in our building in a very short period of time...... I know that I have..... With the help of Russell pushing me to build something other and and inline ( which was all i knew how to build at the time) and seeing all the different chassis designs that others were using has really helped....

Everyone has something to share in the way of ideas....

Chris
Okay guys the field is set........ Sorry for the delay but I had the sudden death of a close friend to deal with and didn't have the time or the inclination to do much...

I have the qualifying times up on the site for the 19 cars that we have on hand..

I still need to post some pictures of some cars and chassis and I will try to get that done tomorrow.....

Good luck to all.......

Chris....
Phil you are fast..... you got to this board before me too

I want to congratulate all the guys for sending in some very nice cars... And a special Congrats to Bill Brehm, who finished 1st from the out of town entries... Bill was a first time builder last year and didn't finish all that well..... But in one years time he has really turned things around and put together a very fast, smooth and drver friendly car.....

I also have the consourse results up now........ I as still a bit behind and still need to post some pictures of some of the cars and their chassis..... I will get them up soon........

Nice job guys.......

Chris....

I know we haven't gone over this and we still have a good deal fo time, but if we are having the last leg of the Proxy on Swiss's plastic track have we figured out what we are going to use for tires on his track???

Swiss have you had a chance to do any testing with a proxy type car on your track and what tires do you suggest.......
