The 2004 World Proxy Race rules are now posted at:

http://www.geocities.com/h_m_c_c/index.htm
This one is for sedan based silhouette cars cars. So now you all have a project to fill in the holidays!

This will be first of two proxy races to be conducted next year. The second will be for Sports /Gt cars built during the 1950's. Rules for this one will be posted in the new year and will be conducted later in the year.

Merry Christmas all.

Thanks for the compliment Russell,I ran it at Pendle tonight as set up for Chris's race with a resin shell on ,it drives well and clocked low 8s right away, sorry to tell you this Chris but I took the front tyres off and found 6/10ths of a second with out any other mods so Im off to find some low friction wheels and a lighter body.

Don't be sorry..... I would be VERY happy to find another 6/10s off my lap times...

That just shows the difference between the two tracks we run on and have to try to set up for...

If you want you can shim the gudie down to get the tripod set up and I will try it again on my track when I start testing the cars..... But it is don't work I can start taking shims out until the fronts are rolling on the track.....

I have started using the Slot-it zero grip times for the fronts on my cars.. I know I had a problem on your tracks and I think this will cure that......

Chris......
Chris, I can't find when the race is actually being held. I know that you want the cars by March 15th, but when is the race?

Kind regards

Russell
Hi Russell

Sorry but one of the drivers I hope to have (Dave England) is out of town most of the time with his new job....... But I am shooting for March 20th as the race date..

Chris
heres a pic of my 550 maranelo needs a paint job yet.

Chris what is the current record for your track?I want to compare last yrs times.

Graham: The three cars that I have tested down here are about 1 to 2 tenths behind last years cars at this stage. Probably due to the narrow rear tyres, that is about a little faster than Gregs BMW from last year. Hope that helps.

I have posted some more pics at:

http://home.iprimus.com.au/kalbfellp/hmcccars.htm

Looks like only six tassie Entries this year for the US races and one from newcastle near Sydney. Terry newsome a 1/24 racer is busy trying to finish his car.

Phil
Ferrari so far .

The paints on just a few bits to finish whish I could say the same for the other .I hope to ship before the 5th of march .

Graham

the track record is 4.98........ with my CLK, but the best I could in qualifying for the race was 5.0 something... I deleted the info for last year and like a fool didn't save it......

The problem is that with the new var. power supply i have I have the volts set at
13.5.... last years was run with the old battery/charger system and that was turning out 14.9 volts..... Motors run much cooler at 13.5

With the 13.5 I have may cars turning in 5.2 lap times.. with new tires the Vette gave a best of 5.187 :) But I have already worn the tires out on the car and will have to replace them before the race........

Remember guys the dead line is the 15th of Mar.... so get cracking..... And I will also post this on the site but the entry fee will be raise to 20.00...... the extra money is to cover postage to Victor's track in Calf. and I will send most of the entry fee money to him so he can post the cars back to the owner so they car prep their cars for the Aussy race.....

Graham...... the ferrari looks GREAT.......

Chris.....

So the 4.6's I'm getting on my 50 ft carrera shouldnt be far off .
Graham

Ferrari looks great!.

I'm struggling a little with my chassis I'm afraid, (based on your PCB design).

Chas at SCD made me some great wheels and tyres, but they are 19mm dia, as I asked for) which won't give me the ground clearance I need with a Slot.it Rear end and gear, can I go to 20 or even 21mm?. I can't think of any other way to increase the Ground clearance as the Slotit rear end is pretty well fixed.

Any ideas much appreciated.

Alan

Hi Alan

I see not problem with going with the bigger tires...... there is a min. dia. rule but you can go bigger..... I use 13/16 tires (21mm) on all my cars.....

Are you using the slot-it sidewinder bracket??? if so you will need the 21mm tires so that the gear clear the braid on my track......
Got some paint on the calibre last nightWhat do you think of the colour

Beejay the tyres are ok at 21mm the car should be ok with that , dont worry about running a bit of clearance you dont want the car to deck out .
by the time it comes to the UK races you will be able to run low as there is no problem with tape or braid clearance here we run down to 1/32"on Bolton and Pendle , I allow a bit more at Slot tech as the magna braid has been lifting a bit in a few places lately but that should be cured before the races

Thanks Chris.

Yes I am using a Slot.it Sidewinder mount, so I will order some 21mm's from SCD.

Chassis is pretty much there now and bodywork is taking shape.

Hope to test the chassis on a BCRA routed track on Wednesday, if I can dodge the 1/24th wing thingies!.

Thanks very much for your advice.

Regards

Alan

Graham

Okay guys........ The cars have started to roll in.... I have Larry Shephard's two Capri cars and today the "Down Under" gangs showed up.....

I have done some testing and then did the qualifying for the cars I have.... I have updated my site with pictures of the cars and the chassis... As well as the qualifying times of the cars I have....

http://jbriggsk9.tripod.com/chrisbriggsslotcarpage/id16.html

You can see the cars in the 2004 World Proxy First look section and the chassis in "what's under the hood" Car pictures in the Proxy info section....

I am waiting for cars from Erling Brox in Norway, Alan, Greg and Bill.... Graham and several others from his club.. Russell and who else?????

Chris
I have 4 uk entrys boxed and ready to go now Chris ,we have been waiting for the mick lord /jim brown entry which as of last night was a non runner maybe it will be sorted for victors race, but entries from Mark Robinson , Mark Brandwood and my self myself are all sorted ,Mark Robinsons setting the fastest time in test at slot tech last night, All these cars are running heavy and with the front wheelsdown so the times on our tracks are somewhat down on last years by about 1/2 second, but thats on the gearing for chris's track.
I'll post some pics tonight
Chris

Mine is going off to you tonight.

I've had one or two problems!. I'll post pictures and description later.
