This is a non runner as the motor brushes aren't installed and been fitted with what I think are Scalextric plastic rear wheels.

Bought this mainly to get the motor as it was cheaper than most chassis / motors seem to be going for at the moment.

You're probably wondering why I bought this... me too!

Found on ebay Italy, it looked like a 1/32 version of the Cox Cheetaracha, so for €15 or so, took the plunge. It's a real Cox Cheetah body, mounted very low on what I think is a modified Polistil/Policar chassis, so does really give the effect of a Cheetaracha in the smaller scale. Still to be determined what I'm going to do with it...

Nice pair Peter!

Which version of the Novi is that? We counted 5 or 6 different versions by Airfix/MRRC... fraid I can't help you with lowering the guide flag, but I'll be interested in any replies!

Don
Hi Peter,

Are the "Hi Speed" ones those with the clip-in motors? I'll have to check again, since it was a French buddy who said there were 6 - I had originally identified only 4.

Don
The earlier ones are Keith, either 3 or 5 pole, but the ball race motors used in the 4WD and other kits is a "split 6 pole", meaning it has 6 poles, but only 3 commutator segments.

Here's mine, the metallic green version, but with plenty of added decals!

Good to see you're back Eduardo.

Among other things, quotation marks and a few other punctuation symbols seem to set off the alarm; maybe it was that, maybe just the usual gremlins.

Don
Seems that 'single' quotation marks work - and that's British style, so sort of legit...

One of the many little differences between British and American English...

Don
Thanks Andy.

Your quotation marks are a quote within the post, so maybe that changes things... in any case, the glitch is random, sometimes it happens, sometimes not!

Don

PS: what is a "dillygrout"?

PPS: quotation marks passed here too - maybe it's a revolution! owner VS was supposedly looking into all this...
Could have been from the Scarab or Lancia-Ferrari too... they're all the same basic chassis, except that some Lancia models had a hypoid chassis/gear... There were also short and long wheelbase versions.

Don
It's more like 25k, but lots of torque. Wouldn't be a winner, but a couple have been entered and did relatively well.

I prepared an MPC "Ramcharger" a few years ago for a drag proxy and it went into the final against the top elminator with consistent ETs of about 1.48... however, I think it had a high-performance arm in there, one of MPC's options for the motor.

Don
These weren't actually purchases this year, but over the last few weeks, I finally decided to assemble some of the many hundreds of motor parts I've accumulated over the last 20 years or so. I've assembled a few over the years - and a lot of these are rewinds, factory or home-brewed - but this time I put together about 20, mostly 16Ds, and a few 26Ds... and one lonely 36D!

Things don't always match up the way you think they will, so it takes awhile... All in bags now, waiting for the Perfect Application... if you need a bare shot of any specific motor, let me know. On one, I wrote "Hot" - not that it's an especially fast motor, but it runs kind of hot - not to be used for endurance races of more than 5 minutes!

I hear you Steve... that's actually mostly what I first looked for at the beginning (and still mostly now, to tell the truth...), but have realized over the years that I probably have more use for the standard motors, or mild rewinds, on almost all the tracks we run on here. But you're a lucky man to have found rewinds at the flea markets - almost none of that here. Except once, kind of, back in the late 1990s, I think, at a very local flea market in our not very rich neighborhood, one of the guys was selling a bunch of wing type slot car stuff from the 70s or 80s, including strap motors and a Barry Magee fiberboard chassis! Was asking about 800 francs ($120 or so), but he finally let me have it for half that, since I think he realized he wasn't going to find anybody else remotely interested in that kind of slot car stuff!

Of course, with the inauguration of the Green Monster last September, we're all having to rethink our approach...

Nice one Lew.

Interesting to see the "FMC" - French Motor Company?

And I only see two Thorps - did I miss one? That blue 36D?

Don
Thanks Lee, I meant Lenz of course, always get them mixed up with Thorp... Have seen a few photos of the FMC label...

Ronnie, that must be a Strombecker Canada set; only Strombecker and Eldon made cars like that (with some pretty amazing similarities in fact, making me wonder if they weren't produced at the same factory... and there's a Canadian connection for both companies). The track is not Eldon, and looks closer to Strombecker, altho I didn't ID it right away...

For instance, here's the Strombecker Lotus 30 and Eldon Chaparral 2C...

Yep, Motorific cars, and their rivals, are in a class by themselves - I wouldn't really call them slot cars, since not remotely controlled and with batteries, but they did have a slot track they could run in. Pretty neat models in general.

Here's my latest arrivals, forwarded by a buddy in the States, with some of the highlights. Don't usually go for MIB stuff, but a fairly large lot of the AMT Ford "Daytona Stocker" came out recently, and I got this one for a very reasonable price. Other than that, the usual mix of odd parts, odd cars and odd chassis... and what I thought were two Ungar Specials, since all I had were the early Eldons, but one of these also has an Eldon sticker on it... Also, at least my third Strombecker 007...

Right you are Steve, IMC it is!

Yep, was very happy to get the Crane rear end for the DC196... have one or two already on motors, but this is the first one I found in its box. I'd really like to find the Crane suspension unit also, but I think I've only seen that once in ebay in the last 20 odd years.

Don
Impressive find! Is the Merc also a Strombecker?

Don
The Strombecker Merc isn't that hard to find, but the Dirt Track Racer is!

This was in England?

Don
Ah, thanks. Don't know why I thought you were English. Indiana makes more sense for these Strombecker models in any case!
