June 30th at Bolwextric could be the venue for the 24 minutes du Clanfield.

As it's less than three weeks away, I thought I'd put up my proposal for our second special night of the year.

I suggest that two man teams are formed by using current yearly championship settings and matching top with bottom, second with second bottom etc. This will be limited to people who have registered at least one score in the championship this year so far.

So, assuming the current 10 regular members attend, and using the current championship standings (still 2 meetings to run, so not confirmed), the teams would be;

Peter & Trigger
Keith & Sandy
Jim & Wes
Steve & Will
Chris & Reuben

So that would mean 5 lanes used and 24 minutes per lane = 2 hours. So with some time for changeovers and a tea break, we should be able to run in a normal club night timeframe. I also suggest a minimum of 10 minutes racing per member per lane, so anywhere between 10 and 14 minutes per driver can be decided by the team.

Cars; I am thinking should be something that runs in this years Le Mans 24 hours. Supplied by one of the members of the team, which I suggest would be the higher placed member as the teams depend on the attendants on the night.

This is just a fun night, to break up the normal club racing nights and has no bearing on the yearly NNRC championship.

If anybody has any suggestions for this idea, or even a completely different event if wanted, let us have it, as we need to get something sorted fairly soon.

Yes Owen, it would be marshalled like our longer endurance races are.

Good to see you again tonight!

They run together at the real race, so I was thinking that they would at ours too.

I'll have to look and see if there is an entry list for this years LeMans anywhere.

The Euros won't have any adverse effect on this event as, if England can get past Iceland, the quarter final will be on Sunday 3rd July. If England make it past that stage, the first night of the new NNRC classes, could well be affected.

Well, the less said about my previous post, the better!

The evening format made a change and seemed to be well received.

So four teams of two competed in the first 24 minutes du Clanfield using standard cars of any slot make of types that have raced in the last 20 years or so of the LeMans 24 hour event.

I had a bit of a slip up with the mental arithmetic and awarded two laps extra to Will/Reuben on the night but it doesn't affect the overall result.

Overall results

1st place

Wes/Chris (a.k.a. The Hayling Hoodies Smash'n'Grab tag team)

BMW Z4 (NSR) 532 laps

2nd place

Will/Reuben (a.k.a. "Tape it together, quick!")

BMW V12LM (Ninco) 511.8 laps

3rd place

Sandy/Jim (a.k.a. The Gentlemen Drivers)

Corvette C6R (SCX) 501 laps

4th place

Keith/Trigger (a.k.a. Just look at the detail on the bottom of this car!)

Porsche 911GT3 (Ninco-inline) 484.4 laps

Team lane results make interesting viewing. Particularly noticeable is the improvement to the Ninco BMW after the tape had been applied.

Lane Colour / Blue/ Green / Red / Yellow

Wes/Chris----- 134.1 / 132.1 / 131.9 / 133.9

Will/Reuben -- 123.9 / 131.8 / 124.2 / 131.9

Sandy/Jim ---- 125.3 / 125.5 / 127.1 / 123.1

Keith/Trigger - 118.9 / 121.7 / 125.1 / 118.7

Any suggestions for anything we could do differently if we did it again?

Perhaps limit the eligible slot manufacturers to stop any (more) hollow victories.

I did wonder, if we were going to do it again next "special night", whether we should have a Goodwood Revival eligible entry list as it will be around that time.
