Nokian Tyres Slot Racing Club (NTSRC) organized 2nd race meeting for 1/32 Vintage Slotcars yesterday (17.12.2011). The event was hosted by the track owner Kai Kivekäs. Meeting was, again, great success. 16 dedicated racers arrived from all over Finland.

Some statistics:

Track: 6-lane Scalextric Super 124, 33m long.
Racers: totally 16
Cars: Over 150 real 1/32 vintage slot cars from 60's and 70's.

Entry list by manufacturers:

Scalextric UK; 85
Fleischmann; 15
Scalextric Spain; 9
Airfix / MRRC; 7
Polistil; 6
Revell; 5
Scalextric France; 5
Parma; 4
Eldon; 2
Strombecker; 2
Monogram; 2
Marusan; 1
Märklin; 1
Lionel, 1
Cox, 1

Classes: 16 classes for mass production slot cars. Classification according to the real FIA rule book for historic racing. 1 class for 'club cars' (vacform body with metal chassis). Number of heats driven: 31!

The day was very memorable one, because such an amount of never before seen cars took part to the event. The 1st meet was held April 2011 and since then almost every one had puschased something new, or should I say something old? Anyway, to compete with Scalextric Bentley among two Auto Unions was something...

I kept my self busy during the day by not only competing in 12 classes but also takin over 230 pictures!!! Most of the car -photos are taken "in situ" on the track. It´s a good thing to remember when you look at the picture of Pertti Jarla´s Auto Union over the crash barrier!

ENJOY!

QUOTE Looks like the Minis were the hot setup for the touring class...

Minis with well-working RX -motors are always hard to beat. Or what do you think about the performance of junior driver Miklas, who at his firts-ever "official" slotrace managed to finish at 4th place!

MRRC Aston Martin was one of my new entries for the event and the tires do tend to look little funny and hardly manage to spin inside the body. A gentle touch with a tiretruer gave some extra room.

Before Vintage -races we used to drive Historic -races with newly manufactured tuned cars that only looked old e.g. Spirit BMW 2002, Scalextric classic Camaros and Revell NSU.

...and some Mercedes too!

But now it seems that the Vintage races are taking over and the competitors are eager to purchase, restore and most importantly race their oldies!

Looking forward to race our Vintages again on Easter 2012!

Now there's a sight to warm the heart of this child of the 1970s who loves the sort of Scalextric cars he grew up with.

Lovely track as well, must be worth a fortune with all that original 1:24 Scalextric track!
