3 Lane sets

I've been fortunate to have owned mass quantities of the Scalex and Strombecker, in fact I have several sections of the Strombecker track looking for a new home, now. Still own about 100 sections of the Scalex track. These are past layouts, first Scalex, then Strombecker. At the time the pictures were taken for each layout, I had about the same amount of track you see, still in boxes, waiting for a larger room.

I usually stumble across some of the Strombecker, rarely full sets, mostly loose track, a few times a year on ebay. That's how I got all the track you see in the pick. That took me a bit over a year to acquire.

You must be patient or eagle-eyed Todd - I don't think I've ever seen any Strombecker 3 lane track come up for auction. I assume it's same slot size as regular Strombecker track (as shallow as Scalextric, or a bit deeper?).

Thanks Bernard, I thought this would make a good subject. Don't think any of these were good sellers, given their current scarcity. Too bad, a 3-lane track really makes sense, and a lot of home routed tracks go that route...

I never thought of the Jump Jockey as a 3 lane, but I guess it is!

You actually don't have the Lionel track Bernard? Not a lot of sets you don't have...

Don
The Strombecker has the same very shallow slots as their two lane track. Interestingly the straight sections are 14" as opposed to the 12" standard 2 lane Strombecker straights.

Single radius turn. I believe it was only sold in a single set: a simple figure 8.

While standard Scalex track in most forms have shallow slots, the 3 lane 1/24 track may have some of the deepest, if not THE deepest slots ever in plastic track.

Two radius curves, so you could build a 6 lane track if you had the cash, the track, and the space. Specialty pieces like a massive steeply banked turn, fly over bridges.

There is a guy on ebay in the US selling individual straight sections of the Lionel track, presumably for its novelty. According to his listing, he's down to his last few sections.
