Ran across this thread while searching for Lionel stuff and it got me to join the forum. Thought you’d be interested to see my Lionel 3 lane set, the track is based on Lionel’s 1/32 track and the outer lanes match up perfectly with the two lane track. The outer and middle lanes match the HO 2 lane track perfectly which leads to some interesting possibilities. Now I just need more of this stuff and a set of three of those crazy lane change pieces though I’ve already figured how to emulate what they do with HO crossovers and single lane pieces.

How do the Lionel cars compare to contemporary HO cars?

I will pull one apart later and take photos, they are basically a variation on the Atlas/Faller theme, no comparison to a modern HO chassis or even a T-Jet/AFX chassis.
