I currently have a couple of 3D printable chassis available to down load from Cults.
There is a fully adjustable chassis but the file is in 3MF format so you would need a suitable program, on Windows you can use 3D builder and some other CAD programs can load the file. this file is free
There is also a stl file for a chassis to fit the Airfix Beetle body in 1/32nd scale and this includes the running boards. This chassis is 3.62 eu to download.
3MF is an open standard, but I'm not sure what opens it outside of the Slic3r family, including Prusa Slicer and SuperSlicer. You can get PrusaSlicer from here, and it is free, and has support for non-Prusa printers, including most of the Creality family of filament printers. The advantage of 3mf is that it's all set up for you to just slice and print, however you'll want to at least change the printer profile to one for your own printer. Since I started with Prusa and therefore Prusa Slicer, it is of course my preferred slicer. However, most people who come from the various forms of Cura, if they spend much time in Prusa Slicer, end up preferring it.
Cura will load 3mf files but not very well. The chassis was designed in Windows 3D builder which uses 3mf as it's default. I think Solidworks but you have to buy it, also MeshMagic will load the files and it's free but I haven't tried it.
Whereas .stl's often need 'fixing' in MS Builder (and sometimes a loss of detail), 3mf files should open painlessly enough, just save it from MSB as an .stl
.3mf .obj and .stl are the most popular for our needs and 3D Builder can open and save as all three and won't affect the adjustability of your chassis design
It's just a better way to handle multiple STL files. Any decent slicer should let you move component STL files as needed by fractions of mm in any direction.
I downloaded the file to see how it would work in Prusa Slicer.
Are all the things that show as pegs supposed to be holes?
Yes, if you read my topic here on the chassis it will show what needs to be removed, the pins need subtracting to leave screw holes. If not changing the motor brackets then the tops and bearing cylinders need deleting else delete the separate brackets and follow the instructions in the thread. The two bars running through the chassis can also be deleted if not required for body mounting, useful for vac bodies.
Basically everything in red, apart from the loose rear bearing brackets, and orange need removing by subtraction. The red parts of the motor brackets and the rear axle bearing straps on the chassis, apart from the pins, can be deleted
I was writing a full set of instructions to include with the download but the post on building the chassis here is a lot more detailed.
I have also updated the link on Cults to point to this topic now.
I will be adding more items as and when I upload them to Cults 3D
