Rockingham Slot Car Club are pleased to invite entries for our 1st digital event of 2021 which will be run to DiSCA WEC GT Specification.
The date for your diaries is the weekend of July 17th-18th (Around 10 weeks from now).
Rules can be found at www.officialdisca.com

The event will be a 6 hour endurance race and be open to teams of 2 or more with a maximum of 14 teams.

The event will be run using the usual hand out tyres, 2 sets of N18 and 1 set of F22 compound, these will be available for practice/qualifying on Sunday morning.
There will be no handout motors, we will however be keeping a eye on suspect cars and will be working on the trust of our fellow competitors!
Any suspect cars may be subjected to an RPM test.

Entry fee is £40 per team and entries will be confirmed on receipt of an initial deposit of £10 which can be made via paypal to [email protected]
*NOTE* In the event that Rockingham has to cancel the event due to any Government imposed restrictions all deposits WILL BE REFUNDED.
Deposits paid by any team that "No Shows" WILL NOT BE REFUNDED.
Entry fee remaining balance of £30 per team should be paid on the day.

A full timetable will be announced in due course.

Finally, a deadline, a chance to rise , race and get out of my house (and country)

Ok still have to find out if my team mates will get an Ausweiss for the UK, vaccinations etc etc...but consider Mission 8/ Low Lands racing to be your first (and international) entry.
Will be dammned if I do, and if I don't.

Paypal send, so do I get to pick first rostrum position for qualification?

oh and p.s. Those of you that ready love to read regulations...2020-2021 DiSCA WEC GT rules 99% the same as 2019 with on major exception: As a BoP measure for deemed to be too competitive compared to LMP2...and LMP1...

...min bodyweight for GT LM was raised from 19gr to 22gr

Ok so now its time for me to post a question

Considering it will be a six hours, to DiSCA WEC (GTLM) specs.. with full light sets (front and rear) mandatory....and it being dark as hell at the club when you turn the lights out, even in broad daylight...

will this edition of the RockBull 6hrs...finally have a "dark session"?

Well lots of things needed to be sorted in a short time. With the (inter) national Covid situation still very fluid it could become two teams, just one, or worst case scenario...none.
So with these ID reserved I'm covering all options.
And then there is also the choice of car.... after my initial reflex of "Oh finally a chance to finish and race the SV8 GTE"...reality check...its just 10 weeks, would need to laminate, paint and decal Bodie(s) finish Masters for vac formed Interiors etc etc.
And this being announced as a 1 day event...no time to test and finish the car the evening before the race

So for now, scrap the "Mission8" part from the entry, Steven V and I will continue as just Low Land Racing and instead of the SV8 GTE we'll be running this AMR Vantage GT3/GTLM

For now ID's # 14 -#15 are still good, might barter with Gary about ID #7

Ok Thx Nik for the update, good news. Will await more detailed Schedule for final details.
But even more important, will await changes in Dutch Gov travel advice for UK...which still is 'Negative"

Team LLR Covid update:
Got my first vaccin last Saturday, 2nd shot due June 18th so that side will be covered.
Making steady progress on the AMR Vantage(s) GT3 (in WEC spec) hopefully first roll-out on May 30th with SRC Eindhoven expected to be able to re-open its doors...
...so those should be ready come Sunday morning July 18th.

The only thing standing between me and a trip to Rockingham is the red, amber and green list of countries by GOV.UK

On the updated list of this morning 4am Belgium and Holland are still "amber".
Hopefully by June 17th (next expected GOV.UK update) Dutch and Belgium drivers will get the call:

Green, Green, Green!

Been posting a build report on our Aston since May 3rd, announcement of the 6hrs made by Nik on May 4th, what a coincidence right?

First reaction was to enter with the BMW M8 GTE as it has some unfinished business..but later realized with just 10 weeks till the race....

running the Aston already on the workbench would give us as small (Ad)Vantage.

Post race build reports always a consequence of running out of time, never out fear of revealing too much info pre race

Situation may improve with the new Slot.it app, latest version 1.5.0 looks promesssing, a minor bug with Blue Tooth cache which can be resolved by switching it on/off. and retry.
Slot.it app in combination with nRF Nordic app (to upgrade firmware to 0315a) means individuals no longer require bootloader/Dongle to keep their chips up to date.

So yes I would agree, we've reached a point were responsibility for correct firmware can be shifted from Organization to entrant(s).
Assistance with firmware given by Organizer always appreciated when troubles arise, but no longer a set "given" obligation for them to fix..

In the case of the Rockingham 6hrs, advise to update your Cars & chips at home, at the hotel or at the local McDonalds

As updates via the apps require a good wifi connection to register/login on Slot.it database.
Those who have attended the event know how "good" cellular reception is at Rockingham club premisses

THX for the update, this is actually good news...at least for us from across the channel.
As with current restrictions it was getting near impossible to travel to the UK at the original date.

In all honesty I must admit that even two weeks later it will still be difficult.
Dutch Gov has placed the UK back on the Red list due to the Delta variant, so even if UK.Gov lifts its travel restrictions on July 21st allowing us to travel to the UK...
...unless the Dutch and Belgium go vernements lift their 7 days self quarantine restrictions coming back from the UK...
...its still a no go I'm afraid.

But unless more than 4 UK teams join the entry list.....keep our entry for now.

Hello Gents & Friends
As Nik posted earlier, even though I'm fully vaccinated...quarantine regulations on both sides of the pond make it impossible for me to travel to the UK. So no participants from the Low Lands for this year's Rock Bull 6hr.
But I will be there in "spirit" and will be following the event.
I've send our old and trusted Ford GT LM to Wayne Lander for Team Chimera's debut, so part of me will be there.

Wishing all the teams a very pleasant, enjoyable and competitive event.
Hopefully next time the RSCC hosts an big Oxigen event...I will be able to attend

Unofficial result 6hrs Rockbull Ring 2021
Here are the "unofficial" results of this years edition of the Rockbull Ring 6hrs, the first major Digital team race since Covid19 cancelled the DiSCA LM 24hrs.
Posted below a screenshot send to me by the Chimera Team, so congratulations to the Gas Monkeys, looking forward to more race stories and pictures posted by the teams and organisation.
