Hi Guys
Jeez I am amazed ,4 people on the forum know of the notorious Dominy brothers all state, and the the one i knew that would recognise it hasn,t even replied
There was a reason for this shell being made (No it wasnt the apoliandis race at oaklands ) although I do seem to remember finishing second with one at an oaklands can am/indy race some time in the early 70s.
The reason they were made ,and I think ian fisher carved the buck, was that at the time ECRA demanded in line chassis for single seater class racing
however it was a different story in the north london league races, they allowed any motor configuration for their F1/Indy races
It just so happens that the wheelbase of the allsate(there were two versions, Dons body is the second one more slab sided ) is 8foot which was the same as a ferrari 312b anglewinder sports car which we raced at the time .So guess what chassis went under those for the N london league matches .A series of 1-2s in the F1 races meant we could always acrue enough points to win the match outright.
It also won the vauxhall indy race driven by dick smith I think
Re the other body that rob mentioned ,well the only two people i know that might have one are dick smith or chris frost
As They were the folks that raced them at tottenham
The body was an open dodge daytona Which was huge compared with the can am cars that were the staple diet of raceway aces
I think dicks' was painted up as a pint of guinness (it was about the same size too} certainly you were not advised to go round the outside of them on the banking !!!

Cheers tony

I remember the Allstate Spl. at Oaklands ( spent all of 2days marshalling in the hole,as the young whelps did in those days before child protection officers-and damned happy just to be in the company of our elders and betters we were), but I also remember Dick,s car causing Stan Whitbread to give up drinking and Mike Perry, the scrutineer, to take to the bottle.I cowered, with Woody, yes that Woody, in my nice snug little bolt-hole as these Gods threw verbal thunder bolts at each other praying they wouldn,t notice us and then one of the mighty spoke to me kindly, after a prompt( and rare) bit of marshalling ,Woody was jealous for weeks afterwards.hAPPY DAYS.

Stan Kirk from Timaru club visited North London a year of two ago and brought Trevor Crout along with him. Trevor was kind enough to bring along some of his vac-form bucks for us to see (and admire).
I think the Dodge Charger convertible Tony refers to is in the centre of the back row.

In theory, more bodies are possible at any time they might be needed.
Be afraid!

Up close.

Hi Joel,

The only one I know is from Pattos, in Australia. ( http://members.optusnet.com.au/pattosplace/home.html. )
It is the 908/02, spyder model (I do not remember if it is the one listed as 68 Porsche 908 spyder or 69 Porsche 908/3000).
Quality is ... rough.

It is possible to do a 908 long tail (2nd place, Le Mans 1969) from the Betta Porsche 917 (1969, long tail), modifying the front a little bit.

Best regards.

André Acker.

And, I don't own one either.

Joel

PS: John, when are you going to post your stash of blobs? You must have a few floating around the workshop.

Hi Guys
Here it is ,ITs bad, its BRash and its BIG
The dominy brothers 1/24 dodge daytona

I met Dick smith at earlybirds over the weekend and queried whether he still had the shell and when the answer was negative he remembered that there was a piccy in model cars mag
So i sorted it out ,Interestingly it is shown next to a standard Can am car so you can see how big it was
The car was painted like a pint of guinness ie black with a whitehead (a bit like trevor mc donald) and if you look carefully you will see in the passengers seat there is a keg of guinness which looks as if it is being pumped in to the driver .
dick told me the cars race finished when it woooshed round the banking in a huge opposite lock slide and managed to hit a car which had broken down on the exit to the banking on an adjacent lane
You didn,t survive that sort of punishment

I've only had a couple vacforms previously, so I was very happy to get a batch of ten. Two of these are marked "LYN JAMES"
An Alfa Romeo (should be able to straighten the side) and one of three Ford Falcons (?).

A strange green car, Cooper-Maserati? A nice Ferrari with Graham Hill and a spoiler. Perhaps the builder was one of those people who believed spoilers to be useful in slot racing? Eagle, Honda RA273 painted as RA300, uncut Lotus 49. And of course a Lotus 56 in front.

Mostly GT/Taylormade, I suppose?? I think I'll give at least some of these vintage Riko technology.

Love the single-seaters, Pertti. Yes; the green one is probably a GT Models Cooper-Maserati. I used to have one. Not GTM's greatest model. Very blobby, particularly at the back, though admittedly that was a complicated shape on the 1:1 car.

The Cooper-Maserati does look worse than the others, the side profile is also quite high. Of course it and the Lotus 56 could take a bigger motor than the others, which are very slim: even a Rikominx seems to be a tight fit to one of those.

Yes but I ran a Monogram F1 chassis with a Rikochet MK1* and one of those Ferrari bodies back in the day it all fitted - just! and it went very well

To make the motor fit the 'c' clip chassis bracket just use two flat headed screws into the end bell - simples

A candidate for being the widest 1/32 F1 shell of the 1960s (except perhaps one of the unraced Sigma). It's a McLaren M7B, 58mm across, or more than 2 1/4in. Quite apart from the side-tanks, the main body looks gross.

Ignore the M15 shell in the background. I took this photo some time ago for another purpose.
I forget the brand of the M7B shell. The driver's head as well as body is integral with the body moulding, which may give someone a clue. It's obviously not from Betta or GT Models.
I simply fitted a Marusan open-frame motor (=Rikobomb) and narrow front chassis, but some folk not constrained by competition rules have made use of the body width, even on narrower versions from other makers, and built chassis with side-pans / rattle plates.
I never got round to fitting a high wing.
One SlotForum member may have used this shell as a replica of the B as raced by Vic Elford. I saved his pic but nothing else.
Unfortunately the shell-makers of the time concentrated on the side-tanked 1968-69 McLarens (or the 4WD) and neglected the basic M7A, which was as elegant as any of those years.
