A Ferrari thread

Ferrari have been part of the motor racing scene for so long, it seems to me that a thread devoted to Enzo (and associated plumbing) is due, or even overdue. The marque has millions of devotees all over the world, of course, so a general discussion might well be worthwhile.

Would love to see your slot cars - of all types - and greatly look forward to reading your comments. A Red Thread with the Chiti/Selsdon 1949 Le Mans winner to kick things awf.

Thank you in advance.

I have posted this in the 1:1 forum as well, but in case you don't go there this is a must for Ferrari enthusiasts:

If you have NowTV or Sky then this excellent documentary is well worth watching:

Indeed...Mr Paravanno was responsible for supporting many early drivers with his cars.

Great post Alexis, thanks.
I particularly like the entry list, so many weird and wonderful cars. What is a Panhard Aardvark?

Joel
That list should go in the “race cars you never heard of“ tread :)
Love the Hodge - Podge spl! Sounds like one of my scratch builds.

I should have known about the Aardvark because I own this book, and there is a chapter on the Aardvark.

And in this book (worth tracking down if you like weird cars) you will find the Fageol Twin Porsche spl.

What the modern cars (with the exception of the Roma) have gained in aggressivity, they have lost in elegance.

For a long time I thought this was a Testa Rossa of some sort, but now I am convinced it is a Maserati.

My recently acquired Scalextric model of the Parkes/Scarfiotti P4 that finished second at Le Mans, 1967. It was later cut up to make a CanAm car.

Sadly, it caught fire and burned out after sparks set it on fire while Amon was trying to drive back to the pits after suffering a puncture.
I have often wondered if part of the beauty of the P4/412P is that it never won LeMans, despite being a perennial favorite as well as voluptuous.

Apart from the external curves I've also always liked the P4's mechanical architecture, which is relatively simple by comparison with today's electronic complexity.
