A Lotus Thread

Trisha started a Ferrari thread back in 2021. Well, time for a Lotus thread. After all, not only did Shelby and Ford kick Ferrari’s rear at LeMans, Colin Chapman and Lotus bested Ferrari often in F1 while he was alive.

I’ve been a Lotus fan since I was a teen in the mid/late 60’s. Since I’ve owned 10 1:1 scale Lotus.

I now collect Lotus slot cars almost exclusively, and would love to see what this community has by way of Lotus slot cars. Street cars. Racing cars. F1 and Indy cars. Sports cars. Vintage. Modern. Custom. I’ve got a ton in 1/32 and 1/24 scales.

SF doesn’t have a General Discussion forum, so this will be a thread for all scales. Unless the mods object, of course l

I’ll kick it off with a super rare Scalextric 1/24 Lotus 38. Scalextric produced 1/24 scale sets and cars for two years in the late 60’s. All are pricey now, the Lotus especially so. They have unbelievable detail, look at the rear suspension. This car was likely run, in looking at the pickup braids. For a detailed, fragile car to be this complete is a rarity.

This is photographed on a section of equally rare Scalextric 1/24 scale three lane track.

Show your Lotus slots!

Nice looking Lotus 38. Cool chassis too.

"Show us your Lotus" you say?

If there's more than one. Do they become a gaggle of "Loti"?

Lotus 30's. These have dual 4-barrel carbs instead of the typical fuel injection. The owners were both on a tight budget and could not afford injection. Pick a colour.

Nice. Thanks for sharing. Keep them coming. What chassis and running gear? BUT the plural of Lotus, according to Lotus, is Lotus.

Well done, tbrace! An abfab thread and long overdue. Ah, Lotus singular or plural, it's too dark for photographs yet. Often is at 2am, but ne'er mind. Plenty of time later. Brilliant.

My knowledge of Lotus stops around 1970. I like seeing all the cars I don;t know about. I always like learning more.

Then you’ll like the early 60’s Type 14 Elite!

Red#59 has an original Super Shells body, the other two are resin repops. All running the PCS 32 chassis.

Is that a Lotus? Which Type?
Lotus 30, converted to the PAM Gr7 car. Hard to believe there is a 30 under there.

Running gear. Right... My humble apologies.

Scratch chassis with Slot.It gears in the lime green Lotus (inline BWMS 050). Scratch chassis with NSR pod and components in the blue Lotus (sidewinder 20k NSR Shark).

I race both cars regularly.

WOW, these are very beautiful: who makes them (in scale 1/32)?
I think I recently saw a hint that Scalextric intend to launch this car soon-ish. The car pictured wasn't successful, but I've always liked the look of it.

Moss at Monaco in Rob Walker's car, 1961. Some consider it as Girling's finest GP performance, while others consider it to be second to the Argentine when Moss won with canvas showing through the tyres.

Enzo was not amused by Monaco.
