A Porsche thread

I've harboured passion for Porsche's way of doing things down many decades, and continue to marvel at the many Porsche slot cars we can buy, or build, that make our hobby such an enormously interesting pleasure.

This thread, I hope, will result in 'everything' Porsche - your models, photographs, memories and yarns. And anything else, of course.

All contributions will be of great interest, as usual, and I, therefore, thank you in advance.

A few pics below to start the ball rolling.

It used to happen a lot years ago, Merc. I recall Alan Cottam in more recent times testing his recently rebuilt A-Type Connaught on the back roads of Devon. He was spotted by Plod in a squad car who gave chase. Alan took a shortcut and headed for home quickly.

He parked the Connaught hastily in the garage, changed into his slippers, lit his pipe and picked up that day's newspaper. There was a knock at the door...

"'You know anything about some lunatic in a racing car driving around 'ere?" asked Plod.

"No, officer, I've only just woken up..."

He got away with it. Just.

I had the WinnWagan version back in 1975 and then I bought the Matchbox kit, which came with an extra set of L&M decals, to make one then I bought the blue Sunoco version a while ago to do a repaint, now I don't need to.

The Rothmans retro #91 and Pink pig retro #92 looked great on track and sounded even better, the recent GTE pro class at LM was very competitive, even though there was some er, questionable bop at times.
An unusual but attractive livery, Dingle. Thanks for posting the pics.

Thank you for the compliment! It really looks much better in person.
He didn't want a replica Gulf livery, but he wanted it to look like and be recognizable as a Gulf livery, if that makes sense.

It makes sense and I think you've succeeded most admirably in fulfilling the brief. Something different often makes a refreshing change.

A picture of proper cars aimed at attempting to expunge the picture in the last post from the minds of all Porsche enthusiasts.

That 917 slot set used to be advertised at 120,000 dollars. Wonder if anyone's bought one.

Ken Miles at Laguna Seca and some guy named Stirling or something like that with a nice Porsche behind him. Both shots from my dads photos.

Interesting that Stirling Moss actually owned an RS60 towards the end of his life, but sold it when old car values started to increase just a few years ago. If memory serves correctly he got just over £2 million for his.

Jus' sayin.'

A wonderful model of the RS60, Ken. Excellent colour, nice detail with the hinges and perfect Sebring exhaust. Beautiful.
