A Porsche thread

I've harboured passion for Porsche's way of doing things down many decades, and continue to marvel at the many Porsche slot cars we can buy, or build, that make our hobby such an enormously interesting pleasure.

This thread, I hope, will result in 'everything' Porsche - your models, photographs, memories and yarns. And anything else, of course.

All contributions will be of great interest, as usual, and I, therefore, thank you in advance.

A few pics below to start the ball rolling.

Keith's a GT40 fan. "So many have gone the same way..." Tut!

Fans. They cool air-cooled engines. Any size, anywhere, anytime. And... provide merriment and mirth among those in F1 who like to imagine that Nikita Marzipan is a racing driver...

Stretching it a bit, I know, I know...

Anyhow, for the helluva it, another dreary ol' daubing of yesteryear.

Not just GT40 Laurence, as I said before you can count the 904, 906 and the 917LH & K version, in plain forms, is up there with the GT40. A lot of the older Porsche models are nice but the later one just get to many added lumps and bumps for my liking. Probably why most of my cars are from the 50's & 60's with the odd 70's car and 80's F1. The only modern cars I have are what are needed for club racing, when I say modern I'm talking about the body style not the slot car.

Further to my last post 24 models across all forms are 917s, 12 are 904s and 5 are 906s. All the Artin and Go!!! cars came as part of job lots or with Artin track job lots.

The daubing above of the 2 917s is brilliant Trisha. The details on the cars stand out .

Many thanks, Matthew. It's an old daubing on quite a large canvas that especially annoys Mrs Grumpy and her ghastly friends.

"Yet another landscape wrecked by bl**dy silly cars."

Allegedly.

A few pics below of cars designed by Porsche during the period from 1934-1965 in which the works' cars were painted in silver.

Interesting silver Carrera, different from the usual 911 bodied Carreras.

Embarrassed only one I have, new and escaped from box under my stairs built from NOS about 1985. Yet to turn a wheel feeling guilty.

The 909 is still a rarity. It's 910 Bergspyder cousin is available...

And perhaps with some 3DP work one might be persuaded to make a 909......

A 909 would be a most welcome addition to the Porsche slot fold. The factory only built two cars, but Ferrari had the upper hand during the 1968 Mountainclimbing Championship with the 212E.

A lightweight, agile, 2-litre, flat-8 the 909 provided impetus for the development of the all-conquering 908/3 introduced in 1970.

Jus' sayin'.

The 1956 Mille Miglia with Prof Porsche in the foreground, which is utterly impossible, of course. The old boy passed away five years earlier.

Thanks, Mike. I know I'd seen a thread about the 909 somewhere. Well done for finding it. Most useful.

A rare slot car indeed.
A Spirit 936, this is a model of a car that raced at Le Mans in 1976.
