A bargain: £4 from yesterday’s NSCC swapmeet in Leeds. A great opportunity to replenish my stock of parts and spares, too. The Porsche runs quite well after a bit of work, but it must have one of the slowest Johnson motors in existence! Apart from my metal-bodied VW bus, it’s the only car I have which can take the ‘esses’ on my short track flat out!

It looks really good Mike, a real bargain as they are often missing a headlight or covered in decals, dirt,, dust etc and sell for over £10.

Just managed to dig up a couple of pics of the AVUS 550 with spats. Richard Von Frankenberg drove it to victory in Berlin in 1955. The Porsche frequently achieved 140mph on the long straights which, for a 1.5 litre sports car in 1955 is startlingly impressive.

Below, one of the rarest Porsches in the form of Ferry Porsche's roadgoing 914/8. With broader headlamp pods than the standard cars, it was one of two such cars fitted with the 908's 3-litre flat-8. Dr Ferdinand Piech owned the other example.

Porsche 962 C restored to its original condition down to the last detail

Hans-Joachim Stuck has had to wait almost 35 years for a reunion with the fully refurbished 962 C and its first rollout. So the surprise was all the greater when the silk cloth was drawn back to reveal the vehicle at the Weissach Development Centre.
