I've harboured passion for Porsche's way of doing things down many decades, and continue to marvel at the many Porsche slot cars we can buy, or build, that make our hobby such an enormously interesting pleasure.

This thread, I hope, will result in 'everything' Porsche - your models, photographs, memories and yarns. And anything else, of course.

All contributions will be of great interest, as usual, and I, therefore, thank you in advance.

A few pics below to start the ball rolling.

This thread got me wondering how many Porsches I have in my collection. Turned out to be 42, which makes up about 10% of me entire slotcar collection!

Turns out I have one Porsche from almost every slotcar brand I own, the only ones I don´t have a Porsche from are Avant slot, Teamslot and BRM.

Here´s the whole gang. First some Fly rally 911´s.
View attachment 280609

Then the excellent Ninco 911/934.
View attachment 280610

Then we move on to some more modern 911´s.

And the mad 935´s of the 70´s from Sideways and the new retro GT2 from Carrera.

Revo slot RWB GT2 and SRC 914´s. Scaleauto 959 raid.

The old Prof in conversation with Bernd Rosemeyer on 26 October 1937 before one of many record runs in the streamlined version of the Auto-Union Grand Prix car.

On this occasion Rosemeyer took the car to 251mph.

Beaten and bumped and very tired, an old Scalextric favourite of yesteryear which, despite its appearance, still goes well.

Here my Rally Porsches, the red is fitted with 3dp Killslot chasis that makes it a real contender, the others are just nice Rally cars.

And my Group 5 Porsches, mostly Scaleauto but there are two Scx and one of them is fitted with 3dp chasis by my fríend Mike Pérez, again resulted in a fast car, although the paintjob its not best as it was one of my first attempts to paint with cans. 🙂

An interesting exercise I've touched upon previously. Below a triumvirate of Fly 917 CanAm cars. From left to right a bog-standard car (rear 'urethanes), a standard Fly chassis-pan with 25k Slot It motor and running gear, and one with an NSR 917 chassis and running gear.

All have their merits around various circuits, but the bog-standard car comes out on top around the Mess.

I can confirm that no camels were harmed in testing these three cars.

Found a 918 'smorn. Had completely forgotten about it. The numerical successor to the 917.

A likely story...

Actually, it goes surprisingly well considering it's still on standard Carrera tyres.

I have the Martini 918 from Carrera, it's 1 of only 2 Porsche models from Carrera that adorn my shelves. I will post photos when I can of them both. I'm surprised no one else made the 918 as its a great looking car.

One of several important cars that flowed from Prof Ferdinand Porsche's drawing pen before he set up his own design company.

This much-raced slot version of the SSKL is from a Matchbox body kit sitting on a Penelope Pitlane chassis and PCS wheels/tyres.

By way of postscript, a black version of the white SSKL above with Graham at the wheel. Nice slot car. Goes well.

Late-ish in 1968, Jenks sat in a Spanish bar listening to rumours that Porsche were building a special car for 1969. Some said it was to have 12, or even 16, cylinders, but being a long-in-the-tooth cynic, he dismissed it all as beery bar talk.

All said and done Porsche had spent a fortune on the 908, and to consider a more powerful, and much more expensive successor so soon afterwards just wasn't possible. Was it?

Jenks was wrong. The rumours were true. I still recall the excitement of the early 917 project. The car at the Geneva Show even gave Ferry Porsche a shock, especially when he discovered exactly how much it had all cost!

I love Porsche’s, it was the car I had on my wall as a kid and was lucky enough to own a 1990 911 a few years ago.

Now I’ve got into slot cars again, they’re quite prevalent in my collection (which is in storage at the minute due to a house move) but consists of Boxsters, GT3RS’s both 996 and 997, road versions of the 996 C2’s, 80’s wide body Scalextric cars and a few more. More recently I’ve built a 2.7 911 RS from a MRRC kit

I prefer the older Porsche’s so when I next have time, a couple of the old 80’s Scalextric cars will be being brought into the 21st century
