Thanks for the comment lads - the Rapier I think is Airfix which I picked up at a swap meet for 50p, some one had painted it matt black with what must have been a toothbrush, the glass and screen piller were missing and the only chassis I had at the time was - don`t laugh - a scalex Mark one Escort so it doesn`t handle very well may be I`ll chage it one day.

The tyre marks across the grass were made with the good old wire brush in the electric drill to gouge out the tracks and finished with Mr Swords paint and sawdust method. All in all the track cost about £200 and took 114 hours to build so it`ll be a while before I do another one.

Each track piece was soldered with telephone wire "jumper" leads to give a good spread of power and the three sections use DS connectors underneath.

I picked up the Fiat 131 at the Autosport show for a couple of pounds and it was fitted to a scalex C5 Europa/Panter triangular chassis, Idont know what make it is but the plastic shell is a dead ringer for the Team Slot resin one and I reckon they took the mould for it from one of these. I fitted a team slot chassis and decals and an SCX motor with Ninco wheels and soft tyres and it goes very well.

The Roger Clark Cossack Escort is from the 1976 Western Mail International Welsh Rally and to I need a rally plate above the number 1 on the door to finish it off, I`ve scoured the net to get a good image to make a decal for it but have been unsuccessful, PLEASE can any one supply a good image so I can finish the car off.

In your case substitute one cross over for an extra C.160 full straight and you`ve got a two lane track.

I don`t know whether you can work out what goes where from the overhead shot, if not I`ll get the track out and write out the track pieces in order from the start line alternatively you could juggle the pieces on an 8x4 sheet of ply or MDF but you will need to use the raised section at the "alpine" end because the track will overlap.
If you`re not going to cut the sheet into three pieces it will be easier to connect as on the rally track some bits of track have to overhang the joins.

Well Christmas is over and our real tree is being re-cycled, the branches are drying out in the greenhouse ready to be converted into more log piles for the track and I`ll put some in stock for future use just in case I get the urge again sometime in the future after I finish the "Pembrey" rally track. Pity I can`t find a use for the needles that have dropped of it!

Hiya Squire - Thanks for the comments, I spent a lot of time in the forests in the 70`s and 80`s, competing, marshalling and doing safety radio and Wales still has the best forest stages in the UK and of course there`s Epynt.
The rated pubs in Crickhowell at the moment are the Britannia and the Bear Hotel and in Abergavenny on a friday the Kings Head is the place to be. Have a tinny for us!

Hi 1 of 5 - The 131 bodyshell that I`ve got I think is a Polystil that I picked up at a swapmeet and I put it on Team Slot chassis with an SCX motor and Ninco wheels. Team Slot made a resin bodhshell that was a bit ropy but the plastic shell is quite good, I`m sure Scott has got one and can throw more light on its origins.

Yes SCX is fine, not quite the same quality as classic track but does the job.

Time for a repaint in white gloss on the icy bits, last Junes Wye Valley Stages the cars were getting far too much grip on the snow!
However to compensate I aim to smooth out the rough "Scottish" section a bit.

Anybody for a three lap stage this June?
