With the weather getting colder I need to move my slot activities from the garage to the house and therefore have to use a smaller track.
My intention is to build a track with mountain scenery like the old Airfix Monte Carlo set, does anyone have any photos of this track or the cardboard scenery.

My scenery will be made out of MDF and the track will be mostly SCX with rally loops at each end and a rally chrono for timing, photos will follow when I've worked out how to lay it out.

Built a cardboard mountain last night - much to the wife's amusment, it currently just supports one SCX rally loop, but it worked, drove well and was surprisingly easy to do, the track is raised by 7" which may be a little high, I might come down to 6".

I've never seen one, but became fascinated by the idea when I saw it in a book I borrowed from the library when I was about 10.

I'd be happy with a .pdf of the original scenery if anyone has one, I could print it out and make some.

I pestered my parents for one, I must have seen it in some sort of Mailorder catalogue and went crazy for it.
They probably told me that it was not compatible with my scalextric set (s/h figure-8 with 4 FJ cars) but compatible/wont fit does not register with a car mad 8 yr old.
I still want one!

Hi Guys,

I have been searching and buying for some time now, and have one full Monte Carlo set plus nearly a second mountain set.

The objective is to set up a full Monte circuit but "mirror image" so instead of a 180 turn, the track goes back up into the mountains again.

Please note, for those who do not know, the cars are quite different, and specific to this set, in having aluminium undertrays.

One of the most rare and valuable of Airfix cars, is the "Rally Mini" in individual boxed format.

Still looking.

There seems to have been a few of them on EBay of late, but they've all gone for more than I'm willing to pay, but Jon has sent me some photos of his set, so I could be full steam ahead shortly, though trying to make it out of Scalextric track instead of Airfix could prove interesting.

I have a Mini, merely described as 'Mini-Cooper', pt no.5095

Not an aluminium 'undertray' as such, it has the later box type motor with integral axle mount and is retained by a large flat aluminium clip.

I assume it is related?

When I was a kid I always wanted one of these Airfix sets. Absolutely super that some have survived and great to see the pictures.
