I'm not a great fan of Grand Prix racing in the post-war period, but one of the cars I do admire, which of course actually started as a pre-war car, is the Alfetta.

I also like the models made by George Turner. The shapes seem to be pretty good, the casting is always very good, whilst much detail is usually included.

I'm at long last getting my builds sorted in some fashion, parts collected, initial, and hopefully colour paint done, then I'm set up for winter builds.

The chassis is the one supplied with the kit, the wheels are my own, other running gear will be Scaley.

The original grille has had a few mods.

GTM supply the kit to effectively make one of the four 1950 British GP contenders, with decals for each car included.

I think this is the best GTM single seater to date.

Alfetta in red.

The grille will be repainted. Black with the slats in silver does not work. I'll repaint in silver and try a thin black wash instead. The top shroud should be colour coded for the driver (decals are provided for all four 1950 British GP entries) whilst the small panel at he bottom should be body colour.

Both axles are too wide at present. The upper suspension links have been removed for modification, the lower ones will come off soon.

I'm always trying new ideas, here's my bash at an Alfetta steering wheel, photo etched in stainless, with some split telephone type cable for the rim.

A bit more on the Alfetta.

The painwork is almost done. I've chosen to do the car taken into 3rd place at the 1950 British Grand Prix, driven by Reg Parnell. Every reference I have found suggests that the grille surround was green, an option not supplied in the GTM kit. Parnell seems to have been the only driver who wore a hard helmet, the three 'F's' preferring the linen helmet.
The driver used is a modified GTM Austin Twin Cam one.

Just a few jobs remain, fix the exhaust, fit the screen, finish off the driver, plus a few bits of paint and detailing.

The profile of this car must be one of the best ever alongside the Mercedes W154.

One last non standard job may be completed.....

....as there is plenty of room for a Scaley F1 chip.
